My RIS consumption increases significantly when the temperature drops. (We're not there yet)

Founders brews account for a pretty large majority of my beer buying from the months of october-february with FBS, Backwoods Bastard, and their Imperial Stout. SN celebration is definitely up there with my favorite winter brews though..I bought a ton of that stuff last winter.

I voted stouts, but it was hard not to go Barleywines. Also, Scotch Ales are up there.

Amber ale is one of my favs year round. I'll never turn down an IPA or a good brown ale either. Throw in a few porters once in a while.

Barleywine's my favorite, but I probably consume more stouts because they're much more readily available. It's amazing, really, how few places churn out barleywine, much less one that's any good. It's even more amazing at just how rare it is to find a barleywine on tap. Outside of Bourbon County Brand Barleywine...I can't recall the last one I've seen on draft. Wee heavy's and old ales likewise.

Yeah...I could live off of Arctic Devil and Alaskan's barleywine...they've got at least a couple good ones.

Winter Warmer for me, which I'm somewhat surprised isn't on there already.

Winter warmers for me as well. Old ales are a close second.

I voted barleywines, but imperial stouts and scotch ales are way high on my list as well for the winter.

Here in New Mexico, we are pretty fortunate as far as barleywines. Marble's barleywine is phenomenal and lately seems to be a year-round beer. La Cumbre does a good one too, but oddly, it seems to show up on tap in the spring, if I remember correctly. Santa Fe Brewing has their Chicken Killer on year-round too. Plus Second Street in Santa Fe puts one on from time to time. Bottom line is that we do pretty well with the barleywines here in NM, especially as far them being on tap at breweries. As far as out-of-state barleywines on tap at bars, I think I've seen Bigfoot on tap and maybe even Ol Foghorn.

    I was thinking the same.

Always look forward to Southern Tier Krampus and Mother of All Storms release. Why? Krampus is one of those bastardized American takes on the style, very unique, and nothing like it. MOAS - a stellar English style barley that totally rocks it.

Usually goes by whatever breweries are pumping out. Right now, a lot of great double/imp stouts are coming out (Abyss, CW Black Gold, Darkness, FBS, BA Narwhal, etc), so that's what I tend to get. Although, Fantasy Factory just got bottled, so I'll be getting some that.

This post makes me want to grab a bottle of Krampus next time it is on shelves.
