Yup, that is one syrupy mess of a IIPA. One of my few drain pours.

How has not one person mentioned capital brewery? I vote for whatever's available in a 4-pack from them... ideally blonde dopplebock, but autumnal fire also hits the spot.

Sorry I was incorrect. It was rereleased last fall, and there was still some hanging around New Glarus, but I checked yesterday and it is all gone. Hopefully they do move it back to a year round brew as it is one I'd gladly buy all year long.

Not sure the background, but Capital does get a bad wrap on here. I admit I don't really give their beer a second look anymore, but I am stoked to try their new King George Wee Heavy as Wee Heavy/Scotch Ale is one of my favorite styles.

    Older brewery bias.

Their Dark Doppelbock was world class this year. OTOH, I had some of the new batch of Maibock and was hit with big dactyl (someone else mentioned this last year, but I can't find the old thread). Learning curve for a new brewmaster?

I tried to go with a variety of different styles versus just hop forward beers.

Surprisingly it has. I also had it when it first came out and was extremely disappointed. It didn't even seem like an IPA. I had a fresh batch at the brewery not too long ago, and it was a bitter beast. The owner said they had some growing pains at first, but finally figured it out. So yeah, if you can find fairly fresh cans, it's a whole different beer now.

For a while I would buy a mix six pack of Two Women and Fat Squirrel, which I dubbed Two Fat Women...
