Wiseacre canning date?

    Does anyone know if Wiseacre uses a dating code? I picked up a 6 pack of Ananda today that seems to taste stale to me. Bottom of can is stamped "2516". Wondering if 251 is the julian date and 6 for 2016?

    I believe that's correct... I have a hard time finding that beer fresh....

    Confirmed with Wiseacre, it is the julian date followed by the year. 2516 = 251st day of the year (Sep. 7) 2016. I did notice that not all the cans in the 6 pack had the code though. They also said they consider their beer to be fresh for 180 days when stored cold.

    Where do breweries come up with this? I could MAYBE see 120 days for hoppy beer. That would still be quite a stretch, IMO.
