For some reason, the no food seems to be WoB's thing. They want/allow you to order or bring food in. No idea what the reasoning is for this is.

To keep children out? (In contrast to the omnipresent "bar and grill" concept.)

Well, that is a plus there. At least you can eat whatever you want then. And they don't just put a bunch of greasy ass deep fried shit on a menu to make the kitchen qualify for the liquor license requirements.

you're reading it wrong. look at what i was quoting.

i was referring to his post.
My comment was simply saying that WOB's customer base is local. I really doubt they're calling Chicago folks down there on a day to day basis. (assumption made by me)
again i have zero knowledge of anything in the suburbs with the exception of driving to both Ikea's and a few malls. If i were to magically wake up and live out there tomorrow and wanted to get great beer immediately, i'd save my time and gas and drive to the first bar for a cold bud and watch the ball game. BECAUSE I DONT KNOW MY WAY AROUND THE BURBS. Any of them.

so when i said ' burb folks getting craft beer instead of driving to the city ' means that i dont know where else they get craft beer on tap besides going to Chicago. 99 percent of posts that i read on here that correlate with beer and suburbs involves Binnys and independent liquor stores.

there isn't special meaning in my posts or something to read in between the lines.

i can see why you said your comment had i just been a jackass and said what i said without referring to nothing. it would have been more ignorant than stupid and elitist.

please don't put words in my mouth/post and make it sound like i'm demeaning suburban people.

ps. i see you have the internet down there.

The BYOF thing is kind of nice. You can eat whatever your favorite local food is while having a decent brew. Naf Naf + St. Bernardus Abt 12 draft was a nice lunch combo today). The only advantage WOB has over Bavarian Lodge are the hours (opens @ noon instead of 4pm for Bavarian Lodge).

That does sound good. I work 3 blocks from there. I would eat Naf Naf every day if i could.

And, my work just officially stopped doing random drug/breathalyzer tests, so I should be good to go for a lunchtime beer. Now, just need to find somewhere to nap in the afternoon ...

The Naf Naf/St. Bernardus combo is what I did also. Great choice

Yes. And the lodge is closed all day Mon & Tue.

This won't replace the lodge as my favorite bar in the area, but it's a nice addition.

Naf Naf will actually deliver there, but i didn't like the tap list much or the bottle list. not much here you can't get at Binny's or whereever. Maybe it will get better.

The best way for it to get better is for BAs to show up and start making recommendations.

Unfortunately WOB will survive with out any BA ever showing up... A lot of people out there are interested in "craft beer" not chasing trucks for the next special release... I think a place like that only improves craft beer by getting more people away from BMC if only if it's for hand crafted pale ales and a like...

I would echo your comments, however replacing the word unfortunately with fortunately. Might not be the tap list many BA's are after but surely beats 90% of the usual tap lists around here (BL, Tap House, a few others excepted)

I was just there this past Monday night, and there was plenty for me to find to drink. They have trivia on Mondays and 1/2 price on certain drafts. (This week it was Summit.) It's certainly a much better place to play trivia besides Mullen's or the Foundry. I'll be back, especially since the BLodge is closed on Mondays. As far as getting rare beers, time will tell!

My favorite part of their site is the "next on tap" section where they reference they will have Firestone "Perabla"... ha!

Perhaps my optimism was misplaced. This from their Facebook page today:

    World of Beer - Naperville
    Leinenkugel tap takeover this evening!
    --Big Eddy's Russian Imperial Stout
    --Big Eddy's Imperial IPA
    --Big Eddy's Wee Heavy/Scotch Ale

Leinies? Tap Takeover? Really? On the other hand I know nothing of this "Big Eddy" series so maybe I'm wrong here.

The stout is actually pretty solid, though I only ever buy it if I see it on sale somewhere. I've never even thought about dropping any coin for the other two though.
