I used to think this too, but now I just end up using facebook more for breweries and it works well. I just have a small set of breweries (degarde, holy mountain, etc) that I have notifications turned on for so that I don't need to be checking my feed. It's by far the one avenue where a brewery can cover most of their patrons, so it should be expected for facebook to trump email or anything else now. It's also less formal than email so when Holy Mountain taps a new beer they usually post and that's something I'm interested in.

I do agree in the sense that we payed money up front that we should get some more formal email updates, but for everything else facebook is king.

I've never installed FB on my phone, and have no plans to. So, it's kind of random what I see on my feed. At the same time, I'm not the type that has to be tied to his phone. If I were to be following along in real time I probably wouldn't leave one place, just because another place tapped a certain keg. To my eyes, a business' own website is where all the important info and announcements should be. FB, twatter, etc, should be secondary avenues.

It'll be Wakefield all over again when W&P beer is on tap at an event across the country (i.e. the de Garde quarterly party last Saturday) before their society members see a release.

Hey there! Whoa we have been busy. Quick update: Now that we have floors, drains, insulated walls, our tanks in place, plumbing mostly hooked-up, and new electrical, the barn feels like a brewery and not a construction site. Sadly, we are not yet ready to fire up the brewhouse and have only just begun to test batch the beers that we announced during our crowdbrewed campaign. (Brewing in a construction site is inadvisable.) The latest test batches are progressing nicely five gallons at a time. Lupercal, initially a spruce-tip infused wild ale, has been brewed with Douglas Fir needles and cedar greenery from the farm. The late addition of Citra is presenting as lime peel and grapefruit flavors at the moment. This recipe also calls for lemon zest in secondary. I can't wait to share this one once it is ready. We have also been doing some spontaneous fermentation. I brewed a test batch on Tuesday of Coup de Foudre which will be brewed in a very similar fashion to our spontaneously fermented beers and will even take in the night air and all associated microbes. After this, the beer will be pitched with our native Sebastian yeast and dry hopped after fermentation. There are quite a few more test batches in the works and I’ll update everyone on those at a later date. If you get curious about what is going on with us check social media. Christian is much better at updating that than I am about posting to this thread, but I’ll do a better job now that I’m working on beer rather than concrete or oriented strand board. Cellar Society members will be getting an email shortly. If anyone has any questions please reach out via this site or email. Cheers!

I agree that having info on your website would be great but fact is the amount of people who will check websites for updates is negligible and the amount following on facebook is pretty large. You could even have facebook email you the updates if you want!

Just checked their FB page, and most recent update was from 2-1/2 weeks ago. Scrolled through the posts, and lots of stuff about CBC. Any word on how things are coming along?

Still waiting on federal approvals I believe. I imagine things will pick up fairly quickly once that happens.

    From their website.

"We hope to be licensed and brewing in our facility this June."

Yes, we do hope to be brewing in June. I would do a jig right now if I knew that we would be brewing in June. Realistically, this is not likely. I don't know how to do a jig and the wheels of bureaucracy turn slowly when they turn. We are still waiting on approval from the Federal Government and getting the last few pieces of equipment in place. While that is happening, we are getting to know Sebastian, the yeast strain isolated from a wort sample placed under a 100 year-old plum tree next to our 100 year-old barn turned brewery. Sebastian has been hard a work everyday for the last few months fermenting our test batches. We just had a sample of this yeast sent off to a lab so that they could look at his DNA. We don't know what kind of yeast he is. He seems to behave like Saccharomyces, but he could be Brettanomyces or a type of Saccharomyces that is not typically used in brewing. While I'm waiting to hear about Sebastian, I'm working on recipes, cooking up collaborations, making sure all the right equipment goes in on time and in the right place, and trying to drink a beer or two when I have a free minute. Once we have approval from the Feds, we will let everyone know. Farmhouse beer will soon flow from Wolves & People, but exactly how soon is difficult to tell at the moment. Thanks for piping up and asking how things are going. We hope to be brewing and drinking with you very soon. Cheers!

You guys should host an open house for the cellar society. Show us around share you're plans for the future. We'll bring the beers do a little bottle share? Nothing against the law in you guys sharing your "homebrew" right?

I'm sure its not as simple as that, lol. But damnit I can't wait to come check out this badass farmhouse brewery!!!!

Don't know what the rules are in OR, but a local nano got a bit of heat from LCB last year for doing exactly that. Another got in trouble for pouring beer at a fest before they had license approval. They thought that "giving beer away" was OK. They learned different.

The Lebrewatory got busted during the CBC. The OLCC thought they were selling beer - which they were not licensed for yet. But they were able to prove that they were giving it away and the charges were dropped.

More importantly, how does he taste? Hmm that sounds weird...
I second a bottle share. Would be pretty cool, and make your initial supporters feel loved.

Cart before the horse comes to mind when we are talking about collaborations before ever releasing a beer.

Lots of breweries do collaborations before they brew anything on their own system. If all their waiting on is permits and such, getting their name out there via collaborations is a good use of time.

I know that they were working on something with The Commons last year (which they even mention in their bio at the beginning of this very post)... But what, I have no idea.

I do know that they are still working on (or, is it 'with'?) 'Sebastian' - their yeast strain... So, who knows when they'll actually have anything...
