Will be in NOLA for a week very shortly. Will be in a datacenter during the day (situated across from the university), but nighttime is fair game. Hotel potentially near Canal Street. Any recommendations? Have been to NOLA before, but it was 20 years ago, and I'm sure it's changed.

I would consider Avenue Pub, Courtyard Brewery, NOLA Brewing Taproom, and Stein's Deli to be the must-visit beer places.

My company has sent me down this way about 6 times in the last year. Our office is in Metairie near the causeway and the hotel is across the street so I dont get a car to explore all the beery places. Usually just walk down to Lagers, grab a couple All Days, try a few tastes of local brews, chow a burger or some gumbo, then head across the street to grab a daiquiri for the walk back to the hotel. When the area managers drag us down to the French quarter I like to have a couple Sazarac's before dinner, then grab a daiquiri if we are going to walk around. Hit up Crescent City last time and I enjoyed the well made German styles, but not sure it would be worth going out of your way for if better options are available. If someone tells me there is some bomb IPAs to be found in town, I would be motivated to try to drag the crew there, but change of pace from beer is nice sometimes. Heading down for the last time on this project this week, but another project I am being assigned to next year is based in Metairie as well.
