Saw the cans of Workhorse for the first time very fresh and its been awhile since I've had one. I've always enjoyed It but something was different. Looked the can over and noticed the abv was 6.7. I was shocked because I remembered the abv was 7.5 and it made for a heavy hitting session. Not a huge difference but detectable. Has anyone heard a reason why they lowered it?

No, but that's fantastic news. Have not yet seen the Workhorse cans in Bend.

Just spitballing here, but, really, you can notice a less that 1% ABV difference? And, that .8 percent dictates whether you can drink several, or just a couple? I are so confuse.

Well, it's been a while since I've had Workhorse (used to be something I grabbed all the time), but I think with any beer you drink semi-regularly you'd notice if there's a major recipe shift. While you might not taste the difference in ABV itself, you may very well notice the aspects that resulted in the ABV change (malt bill, etc.). The OP might not've meant they tasted the difference in the ABV, just that they tasted something different.
(No comment on the sessionability of 7.5 vs 6.7.)

I have no comment on the difference of 7.5 vs 6.7 in a session just that at 7.5 abv workhorse after a couple you could feel it.

They did switch head brewers not that long ago. Maybe thats it?

the only thing that matters to me is that they dont change the recipe on the Fresh Hop Workhorse. Dear god that beer is delicious

Are the cans still contract brewed by Full Sail?

Amen. That was the first thought that crossed my mind when I read the OP as well.
