Hi all, My father in law enjoys a solid brew and is a big supporter of my craft beer 'habit' and is working in Beaufort SC this week, spilling into next weekend. He doesn't have much going on, and extended the offer of doing some driving to pick up some brews for me as well as hitting a brewpub or a solid bar along the way. I have been able to enjoy a lot of the SC staples (Westbrook, Coast, etc) so would love to send him down into Georgia a bit. Are there any bottle shops within a reasonable distance (hour and a half or so) that I could send him over to to get Creature Comforts, Burnt Hickory, Orpheus to take back (open to other recommendations as well). I didn't see any breweries within driving distance that seemed like they had packaged stuff, but open to suggestions. Also, any good bars/brewpubs around those spots. Know this is kind of open ended, but any recommendations are appreciated.
Where in Beaufort? He's probably only an 1.5 from Charleston so he could go to Westbrook, Charlestown fermentory, coast, and many more in that area.
Don't know about Georgia stuff. But have him stop at Charlestowne fermentory for sure the best IPAs around
River Dog and Wooden skiff are close by, not sure what they have package wise. River dog is decent from what I have had. Havent had wooden skiff though.
Savannah is only a short drive from Beaufort. Tell him to check out Habersham in Savannah. I always stop in there when I'm in Savannah and grab some bottles. They have an awesome selection. There are also a couple of breweries he could check out in Savannah while he's there. Get him to grab some Southern Juice from Jekyll Brewing out of Savannah. If you like IPA's you will not be disappointed.
There's a burger joint in Beaufort called Fat Patties, they have a good beer selection, and also do growler fills. They're a verified venue on untapped so you can check out their draft list. They have good as well!
Hilton Head Brewing Company makes some very good IPAs. I think its the Break series or something like that. I was impressed. Only "bottle shop" I know of in the area is Bill's. It will have staples but nothing special.
