If you are a BA'er stop by the Beer Army booth this weekend and say hi. I will be pouring at the noon to 4 session and would love to meet other Beer Advocate people. I will be the older guy with the white beard.
    Cheers,
    Donnie

I worked it for my brewery, and it was an absolute disaster for people working.

I've worked many festivals and enjoyed very little at any of them. Working two sessions is a completet nightmare and a really bad idea, except for those raising the money. What were the disastrous part(s) for you?

I get the no drinking behind the table, but i didnt get a single volunteer like promised. The threat of under cover police officers shutting me down for either over pouring or drinking behind the bar just made me paranoid. Also, alot of miscommunication with people led to other crap.

I know, those conditions are never fun. My son was there pouring and said the police were overbearing. Crowds and alcohol always are truly crazy. It takes the patience of a saint to stay cool throughout two long sessions. My personal opinion is that the proliferation of these festivals has diminished the overall quality of any one of them. To me, The Summertime Brews Fest in Greensboro in July is the best of the lot- by participants, volunteers, and venue. Cheers.

The paying customers were the best part. Super receptive, and I think that did the trick (at least as a brewery rep). Ive been working them for different breweries for a few years now, and this on seemed like they were cutting down on drinking at a beer festival. I mean, its a damn beer festival. Drinking will happen in excess regardless of your efforts.

Honestly, I saw like a third of people just there to drink alot.
