Just wondering if anyone has any news on WWS making an appearance anytime soon? I've never tried it but wouldn't mind picking up a couple of fresh bottles, one to have now and one to age for a few years.

It's "on hiatus". Let me find a link...

From 12/16/11, "With all the new beers, we'll have to bid a fond farewell to a few others. Lawnmower, Squall, World Wide Stout, Fort and Pangaea are all going on hiatus, and Shelter Pale Ale will only be available locally on draft." link

However it isn't listed in the "on hiatus" section of retired beers. A beer buyer I talked to says it generally comes out every other year, so perhaps it will return in 2013.

I do believe I remember seeing that they took it off the schedule this year, but it should be back next year. Shouldn't be too hard to find the last batch though, I know it's still lingering in some places around here.

I'm sitting on like 5 bottles right now. I think a lot of BA's that have a cellar probably have a stash off WWS, it shouldn't really be that hard to trade for a couple bottles if you really want it that bad. Good luck with the search man!

It damn well better be back next year!!!

With that being said, the last batch was back in early 2012. Its always on the shelf due to its price and lack of hype.

I had a bottle from the 2010 batch and it was delicious.. I sure wish I could get a bottle of this again.

I'm sitting on a couple of 2009s. I have yet to be able to try this beer fresh. Definitely hoping that it returns from hiatus soon.

This beer tears me. I've had a taste of it and it was great but its still very hard for me to buy a bottle of it for 10 dollars. Still though I feel like I should pick a couple up just to try one and have one. Especially if there is the possibility that it may not be made anymore.

I spoke with a DFH rep back in June. He said it'll be back in 2014.

You for real? If that is the truth, that's sad, sad news. 2014 is a long way off.

Unfortunately. Hopefully he was bs'ing me. They'll be taking at least 1 year off from making it though.

Yeah, they put it on the on-hiatus list and then they took it off that list, so I figured it was close to the end. I imagine it doesn't sell as well as their other brews and costs them a lot.

Heard the same thing back in July, but the rep said winter 2014. stupid of me not to ask what he meant by that: January-February 2014 or December 2014?

I was at the Brewery in Milton last month and was told it was taken off the production line indefinitely. I suspect when and if it's brought back may depend on how current inventory sells. I love WWS but I know its pretty plentiful and tends to sit on shelves for a long time, so its probably not a money maker in the DFH lineup.

There's still a ton on the shelves in NJ, if you really want some just setup a trade.

There are several cases available now at a shop near me. I considered trying one but I balked at the price.

I have a couple of this year's bottles available to me at my local shop. They also just got Fort in stock, but it's too expensive ($17 for 26 oz).

My first bottle of WWS was from 2008 (consumed a few months ago), and I liked it quite a bit. I'm interested to try my 2012 bottle tomorrow evening and compare the two.

Why can't they suspend 120 Minute instead?

I think you will find it's much better aged as it's not as boozy and the flavors are more pronounced. A great substitute for WWS is Avery Mephistopheles, had a 2008 bottle a couple months ago and it was superb, so I think the age on those big abv stouts makes them much more drinkable.
