Drinking WWS from 11/17/09 and still a boozy hot mess! Sorry don't think, this, Olde School, or 120 ever get more mellow or better, please change my mind.

Olde school at four years is great stuff.

I heard the 09 bottling of WWS was a poor batch. I have a bottle of 2010 WWS hidden under the steps at my mom's house that i'm planning on drinking at the end of the deckade

I had a 2006 WWS last year that was fantastic. I had a 2006 120 this year that was also fantastic. These beers, especially the 120, take a LONG time to calm down the booziness - which is what you would expect from beers this big. But your patience will be rewarded in the end, I promise!

Had a 2011 Olde School last night and loved it. If you're expecting any sort of alcohol to disappear from a 15-18% beer it's just not going to happen. Ever.

Have you ever had Mephistopheles, Tweak, or Bolt Cutter? Those beers mask the crazy amount of alcohol really well, but not these. I have had aged Olde School, still a booze bomb. 120 is the best for me.

I haven't had any of those, but we'll have to agree to differ. I thought 2012 Olde School was smooth out of the gate, though the alcohol was detectable. I prefer my strong beers to have a bit of bite though. I like the taste/burn of bourbon (neat), so if I'm drinking something 10% I have no problem if it's a little boozy. Off the top of my head, I can't remember any beers I've found unpalatable because of alcohol, but I know there's been at least one. I just can't recall the name.

One might think that if you don't want boozy beers that you should stay clear if beers that are 18%. Seems like a better option than waiting for said beer to calm down

All three will mellow enough to be tame given time, but nothing is going to mellow out enough to drink like a Bud with 15% + ABV. Even my bottles of TNP and STB mellowed a little over two years, and they're 32 and 41%. I'd give them another try in a year. Personally, I enjoyed Olde School and WWS fresh, but I can see where the booziness might be too much for some people. Three years is plenty of time IMO.

How are we supposed to change your mind about how something tastes to YOU?

I was hoping a magic # of years for there sweet spot? I actually thought more people would agree or tell me I need another 4 years. I love big beers, but these just don't mesh well for me.

Recently I was given a WWS 2011 I didn't care for it. It wasn't hot at all and it didn't live up to the hype. It was ok but nothing special. Glad I didn't pay for it.

Had a tasting with a 2009, 2010, and 2012 WWS. The 2009 and 2010 were amazing. Smooth as can be and I really liked them a lot. The 2012 was really boozy and definitely needed some aging imo. Glad we had that tasting and now I know the difference between a good aged beer and one that needs to age.

I had a 2011 WWS this summer and was shocked at how drinkable it was. It was not a booze bomb.

Good to hear 2011 is doing well, as I have 2 bottles left. Opening 1 soon. Wish I had got more, don't remember it being overly expensive and there was at least 25+ bottles of the shelf in PDX when I found.
