Then how do you explain the popularity of Dark Lord?

Damn, I actually like the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. Then again, I had it after having 3 or 4 strong imperials. I imagine almost anything would be good after that though. I know I was feeling quite well.

I gave up drinking barrel aged beers a while back. All of them I had tasted of too much barrel overwhelming whatever beer flavors were present.

I've never had it, but I would like to try it. FFF does get more love than they diserve though in my opinion.

I feel for you. The description on the bottle makes it sound other worldly but it was a huge disappointment. I'm not sure that aging will help other than it might make the (bad) flavors blend together a little better. I hope it works out for you.

Anderson Valley Barrel Aged Stout was the least pleasant barrel aged beer experience that I had, but I wouldn't call it horrible. (Also, I enjoyed Kentucky Bourbon Ale, so maybe I am as crazy as they say lol).

Breck BA vanilla porter. Was not a fan of that one.

To me, this tasted like a cheap watered down whiskey with some roasted characters. I split the bottle 3 ways and all of us were underwhelmed.

A beer from a local brewery near Raleigh, Aviator BA Black Mamba Stout. Terrible, watery, tastes like the half burnt wood in the campfire when you wake up in the morning, mixed with battery acid. And no barrel at all. They bragged on the tour how they leave it in the barrel for...6 weeks!!!

I enjoyed that beer a lot. It is funny how polarizing it seems to be though.

To answer the question (even though it was actually aged over bourbon oak chips) John Henry 3 Lick Spiker Ale was a train wreck.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but for me Pelican MOAS was a sweet mess.

I feel like I'm piling on, but it's Kentucky Bourbon Ale. There are some beers that taste bad, and some that are bland, but this beer turns my stomach. Evil, vile, nasty stuff.
