How do the special releases at Freetail work then?

I've got one: Growlers can only be filled by a brewery/brewpub and then only into a growler with their logo on it. It's relatively minor in the grand scheme of things, but, man, I guess I got spoiled in NoVa...

I used to live in PA and year they got some messed up laws.

Kansas has an odd one. Beer sold at grocery stores can only be 3.2 percent alcohol. So if you buy from a grocery store you get "special" "3-2" beer. if you want full strength you have to go to a liquor store which I believe, IIRC, isnt opened on Sundays either, at least ours wasnt,....so football beer had to be planned accordingly.

The moral of the whole story is there are far too many laws that try to protect people from themselves and, in the case or beer and liquor, are too rooted in religious beliefs

I think that's just Milwaukee. Kenosha sells beer to midnight.

There should be a law against having beer laws cause most of them are silly..

In MN we can't buy beer on Sundays unless it is that worthless 3.2% stuff which looks and tastes like piss...blahhhhhh

Other than that ******ed rule, FL isn't too bad I guess, but we aren't included in "the south" anyway. To me "the south" = "bible belt" which is beyond ridicluous.

yeah, youre right, milwaukee county prohibits the sale of any alcohol after 9, but i think the rest of the state you can still buy beer and wine until midnight, right?

Different licenses. Freetail can sell their bottles on-site, but therefore can't sell off-site, so the only place you can get their beer is at their place in San Antonio- not available in any stores. If a brewery wants to be able to sell off-site, then they can't sell on-site. I know, it makes no sense.

Just to clarify, in Texas, stores that sell beer AND liquor have to close at 9pm. If they sell beer only, like convenience stores and grocery stores, they can sell until 12. But that means the major chains, like Specs, close at 9 and are closed on Sunday.

In NH, while Founders is distributed, including both Bastards, they will not allow the sale of FBS in bottles due to the baby on the label. Kegs of FBS, however, are fine.

It's been awhile since I've had to race the clock, but I think that's right. Booze until 9, beer and wine until midnight.

PA sucks because you can only get singles and 6 packs at bottle shops or pizza places. It makes the good bottle shops well picked over and 'finds' extremely rare.

Personally, I'd like to see liquor stores allowed until 9-10/allowed on sundays in addition to scrapping the beer cap and getting rid of keg tags, but in 6 yrs I've been here the state has climbed up to average. I can cope.

edit: I'm also disappointed I missed the days of post 2am last call, but that probably keeps me out of trouble, plus it's a local law.

    New Brunswick, Canada:

    - Liquor is only for sale at state run liquor stores, with the exception of a small number of brew-pubs who can sell 6-packs or growlers.
    - Liquor stores close at 9pm, which I guess is not the end of the world.
    - The liquor control board decides what get stocked on shelves...the overall selection is terrible.
    - Liquor can't be shipped in from other provinces.
    - Pricing is outrageous....typical domestic lager at $13 per 6-pack. A pint of a local craft brew is $3.80 per bottle.

In TN, all beer under 6.2% must be sold in regular retail stores. Anything higher must be sold in liquor stores. Also any brewery in TN making high ABV beers must obtain a distiller's license which only one ever has to my knowledge, Yahoo Brewing.

Here in MA you can't beer off the internet unless it is from in state source. Grocery stores cannot sell liquor either, although I have seen a few small markets sell liquor.

Plenty of growler fills at 3 Stars and DC Brau. Just not actual brewpubs or restaurants. Not that big of deal in my opinion anyway. Cheers!
