We already tipped over all the cows, so this is what we came up with to fill the time.

Along those same lines, did Ballast Point ever make Indra Kunindra in 12 oz bottles? They brew it with curry spice, and it will most definitely ruin your day.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Please keep them coming, as we do this every year. I plan on sharing these all with my group. It's only fair, since one day it will be my time to (drink and) run.

What are the parameters anyway? mile in under 10 minutes? 7ish? Have to at least jog? Must run?

    Likely story, little finger.

Hahahaha. No. We are all firmly middle-aged, except for a couple young-uns, one of whom ran the beer mile last year. He was a recently graduated college track athlete who guaranteed he would run a sub 8:30 mile. After puking at least seven times, he finished at just over 15 minutes. It was hilarious to us, less so to the terrified senior citizens walking laps around the track.

The only rule is one 12 oz beer per lap. Scorn, ridicule, and the honor system take care of everything else.

WAIT, a 12oz beer PER LAP. I thought it was 1/mile. Oh man, this is TERRIBLE!

Yes, I probably wasn't clear on that. Last year was a sour, a coffee porter, a chocolate stout, then a very warm and skunky IPA.

I’ve seen beer like this brewed handful of times by some Chicagoland breweries, but I’m not sure where you can acquire some at the moment. Search on beer menus and you might be able to luck into some thing.

I passed on it earlier today, but was tempted.

For anyone who's unfamiliar with this, the beer mile isn't just a thing for @bad_beer_miler and friends. I've heard of this for years and there's a whole society behind this (even it's own Wikipedia page):

    https://www.beermile.com/

    https://thebeermile.org/

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_mile

There's even a beer mile runner who got his own shoe endorsement but I have yet to hear of a runner who signed a beer/brewery endorsement deal:

    https://www.espn.com/olympics/trackandfield/story?id=14161670

Admittedly, it probably peaked a few years ago in popularity, circa 2016-2018, but it still has it's ardent fans out there.

EDIT: For the record, my vote for beer would be to go with the old 12 oz bottles of Bourbon County. May not be the cruelest to the body but it sure would be one of the most expensive if you're having the runner purchase the beer!

A few months back I tried beer mile for the first time at the urging of my cousin who ran the beer mile in 5:35 start to finish. I finished in like 12-15 minutes, but my mile was 5:35. I obviously cant chug a beer.

So it depends, can they chug a beer? If so, then some of the above might not slow them down that much. But the carbonation does!!! My cousin did his with a flat beer. Mine was the same beer but ice cold. So mine was ready to explode in my stomach after the 2nd lap.

Go for something ice cold and very carbonated. The carbonation can only go one direction with all that shaking in their bellies and thats up and its hard to slam a beer when CO2 is trying to escape through your mouth.

5:35 while drinking a beer per lap and not just a beer but high octane heavy stuff? I guess if you're in incredible shape and can pound whatever beer in 10 seconds....Still I'm skeptical. i mean the world record is just under 4:00 without beer. I run all the time but am bigger guy and hitting even 8 minutes for one mile would be a feat for me without the beer.

You cant run under 8 minute miles so youre skeptical that someone you havent met knows someone that can run very fast? Strange statement.

Anyway, each beer he slammed in about 12 seconds and I was wrong, he did it in 5:33.

    https://www.beermile.com/display/event_151625

But this post isnt about how fast a random guy can run and whether or not you are skeptical. The post is a suggestion that if someone wants to run beer mile faster or slower to focus on carbonation more than anything. A full stomach of carbonation bouncing around creates problems when trying to slam the next beer. Hard to drink and burp at the same time.

This one was a tough one to finish, and I wasn't running while drinking it. Not sure if you can find it at this point, but it is 12 oz.

Here you have what could be the first malt liquor worthy of a glass. Typically a slighted style, we thought we would class it up with a stay in the wood and a healthy dose of dry-hopping. A huge hit of corn gives this one a smooth sweetness while its time spent aging in bourbon barrels will give you reason to share. Be warned: this one’s a pry-off, not a twist-off.

Any of the Prairie Artisan BA beers are good options as well. In addition, Olde English 800, Bud Light Lime-A-Rita, Steel Reserve 211 and Natty Daddy are beers worth considering, though it may be hard to find any of these or other malt liquor offerings in a 12 oz format. However, "International Rules" indicate cans or bottles of 12 oz or higher are allowed: https://www.beermile.com/rules

    5. Competitors must drink canned beer and the cans should not be less than 355ml (the standard can volume) or 12oz (the imperial equivalent). Bottles may be substituted for cans as long as they are at least 12 oz (355 ml) in volume.
