T-minus 20 minutes before this turns into another "classic" NEIPA hate thread. You guys just can't help yourselves.

The worst pro-tip I've seen is to "let IPA's warm up a bit to really bring out the flavor". Yeah, no. I'm not drinking a lukewarm IPA.

Hopefully those glasses are thick enough to withstand thermal shock. If somebody mentioned putting a Spieglau in the freezer there would be justified pearl clutching.

Drinking a beer in the morning to stave off a hangover.
Not only does the thought make me nauseous in theory, but seems like a dangerous road to go down.

Bloody Mary’s are what you seek for that particular situation. This may not be a beer protip but a cocktail protip? Cheers.

Well, if they weren't so boring and one-note, we wouldn't hate them as much. Which still isn't as much as they deserve.

It's great that these reactions unintentionally contradict each other. Nothing divides people quite like the hot button topic of the best temperature for a beer. Craft geeks tend to view a frosted glass the way Dracula views a crucifix. It's one of the symptoms of the old macro vs craft battle line that has the power to still hang on. It's used to create a distinction between "us" and "them," but like many things used for that there's a bunch of BS involved.

It's a safe bet that a majority of people on this site drink most of their beers from the fridge... and if they let them warm up at all, they don't let them warm all the way up to room temperature. If people here look down on the practice of drinking beer too cold because it mutes the flavor, then that logic could be applied to beer at any temp lower than room temp... be it from a frosted glass or a slightly warmed can from the fridge.

People drink their beer at a certain temperature because that's how they enjoy it. I loved the anecdote from @herrburgess many years ago describing how good it was to drink Helles out of a frosted glass in Germany... done so because the lager was served from a wooden barrel in the summer. Sign me up please. "Pro-tip": Joy is where you find it.

Sure does beat putting ice cubes in your beer in the summer.

Kinda curious now to drink a room temp lager from a frosted glass. Just so happens a local brewer just released a fresh pilsner batch. Weekend experiment time?

My top 10 favorite beers consist of:
Belgian Dark, Dunkelweizen, Dubbel, Tripel, Wild Ale, Quadrupel (Quad), Pale Ale -American, Lambic - Gueuze, Lager - Rauchbier, Stout - Sweet / Milk, Stout - Oatmeal

I would have to get down to about 70 before I hit beers that are suited for a frosted mug.

Chris, there is a broad range from refrigerator temperature (e.g., 40 degrees F) and room temperature (e.g., 70 degrees F). I know from past discussions you are not a fan of beers being cold and prefer to drink your beer at the temperature of your cellar.

In an hour (or two) I will be drinking a couple of beers:
    • A Witbier which I will drink/enjoy at refrigerator temperature
    • A homebrewed Quad which I will remove from the refrigerator 15 minutes prior to popping the cap. I will not know exactly what temperature that beer will be but needless to say warmer than refrigerator and cooler than room temperature.
I am of the strong opinion that different beer style/types are best enjoyed at differing temperatures but needless say this is indeed subjective.

    Cheers!

P.S. On a somewhat related note a week+ ago I ordered a draft glass of BCBS at a local craft beer bar and I ordered before I was finished drinking the beer I has in hand. I then let the BCBS warm up before drinking/enjoying it.

Those glasses the OP pic'd are okay but are thin. As far as a frozen (not just chilled) glasses go, I like doing that sometimes in the summer for Lagers. Use THICK GLASSES. Mugs work great as your hand won't thaw the ice. Rinse entirely and do not dry it. Pop it in the freezer wet. The point is to keep the beer cold longer and to use a freshly frozen one for each serve. Some folks, like down in South America or in tropical locations, enjoy very cold beer. Sometimes to the point of slushy. Cheers!

A shaker works as well. And when I’m done I’ll rinse it, fill it with water and take it to my bed side. I’m a simple fella. Cheers.

Cold beer goes bad if it gets warm…….I was told this many years ago. I followed this advice till I left some beers outback in a bucket one night. They had warmed up. I decided to rechill them anyhow. They were fine.

    Enjoy
