Worst beer you've tried

I got a promotion at my job a few days ago. My roommate and I wanted to celebrate but the only beer we had in the house was a warm Samual Adams Cherry Chocolate Bock from 2012. It was 90 degrees and humid but we decided to drink it warm. It left such a bad taste in my mouth I quit my job the next day.

Was given one of these on the house one night. Drank some and spent the next few minutes trying hard not to urp it back up in front of the bartender. (Succeeded, thank god.) I knew there was reason I don't pour beer onto Indian/Sri Lankan food...

Given to me as a gift. What a combination of things that I don't like and don't go with beer: cumin, curry, coconut. My wife also turned up her nose at it. Almost immediate drain pour.

 

Technically it was Hair Of The Dog Adam but I have a sneaking suspicion that it was infected so that shouldn't count.

That I can think of at the moment:

Menebrea 1846-- Italian dish water
Lezajsk--Polish Dish water
Dab- worst German beer I've had by far
Hayward 5000

 

It was around '92 I can't remember the name, but it was a Bulgarian or Romanian beer. It was available at this cut-out food outlet almost warehouse type place on the far east side of the Mission District in San Francisco, not too far from the Anchor Steam Brewery actually. The beer was 5 dollars a case or something ridiculous. My freinds and I were all totally broke most of the time, so we thought, well, at 5 bucks, lets all chip in and see, why not, how wacky, Bulgarian beer, fun! At that price nobody was expecting much. I was actually scared of the beer, with its stumpy and bulbous brown bottles and label that looked 19th century. Anyway, we tried it and I remember thinking it tasted exactly like someone had poured salty pork broth into a stale flat beer. We were pretty freaked out. I don;t know what happened to the beer, I don't think much pf it was drunk though. At the time I wasn't aware of the existence of smoked beers, perhaps it was a cheap mass produced rauchbier or something that had long expired. That was the foggy summer of weird bad beer in San Francisco tho. We had gone out to that place to get our usual couple of cases of Pacena beer, which was this Bolivian factory lager that was drinkable and dirt cheap, even cheaper than Carling Black label or Schmidt, but not much else, as I recall.

 

Toss up between Not Your Father's Root Beer and Magic Hat #9.

 

Of all beers I've ever had, Ghost Scorpion Lager is easily the worst. It made but Crime and Punishment seem like they were made with jalapenos (all 3 were consumed on the same day).

Of non-gimmick beers, I thought Plaid Ferret Scottish Ale by Weasel Boy Brewing was one of the worst. There was no discernible character at all in that beer.

But with a name like "Cease and Desist" you can't say they didn't warn ya! Heheh!

I forgot-- At the Annual BCTC fest at Ommengang this year, there was this beer that literally tasted like bleach/chlorine . My friend tasted the same thing. I cannot recall the name or the style but I'll never forget the taste. Obviously there wasn't bleach in it or it would've burned our insides. But something was definitely wrong.

 

Damned cool bottle though.

 

Wild Blue, hands-down. While riding shuttle bus back from skiing, had to urgently open window to spit/barf first sip. Thought I'd just imbibed a mouthful of fizzy blueberry syrup mixed with anti-freeze. Blech...

 

After 10 years of critical beer drinking, living in both the Midwest, the south and now the northwest I have to say, even after multiple tries, St. Pauli Girl is still the worst damn beer I've ever had.

This of course excludes any non-alcoholic beers that I've tried, because they're not actually beer.

 

Jester King "Snorkel". A mushroom beer. Im all about experimenting and trying new things esp. understanding farmhouse ales, wild ales etc. from being in the industry and what not but this beer is like a slap in the face. Tasted like stomach bile!? I feel that these guys may be a little lazy..."however this turns out, oh well...they'll buy it"...no thanks Fester King

 

The classically dreadful Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale, and I even like a few pumpkin beers!

 

Or sea water! lol

 

Mine was definitely the Flying Dog Old Bay seasoning beer, so horrible.
