In a Bottles store during a tap takeover...tried 4 samples...walked 15 feet away to shop a little and right away knocked over a bomber in front of about 20 people who of course started applauding....
*funny related story-back in my early 20's living in an old 'frat' style house I knocked a 16 oz can onto the floor;it did a perfect 180 landing on its open top and created a 'hovercraft' effect. Four drunken friends and I watched it levitate and leave a foamy trail as it slid across the room on the old uneven floor for about 20 feet....everyone was in agreement it was the coolest thing we ever saw...ah,those were the days.

I don't use glass car boys for fear of them breaking. One of the homebrew forums has a thread of injury photos from glass carboys breaking. Not pretty.

I was walking through the beer section at Wegmans with my one-year old son in the shopping cart. I was looking at something and heard a crash behind me. I turned around and my son had one bottle in his hand. Five others were on the floor in pieces. He had grabbed one in a six pack and pulled it. I don't remember what it was, but I don't let my kids get close to the shelves anymore. Wegmans was great about it. Didn't charge me and told me it happens all the time.

I've done this...except it was full.:grimacing::slight_frown: Tried to move it to rack to secondary. I don't use glass anymore.

Damn In-Laws!!! A few years ago, I brought over some nice bottles (a couple sours, Belgians, and such) to share with the rest of the family (in-laws don't like beer) for Christmas. My wife and I went home, and left a couple for ourselves for the next time we'd come over. Good ol' Paps didn't want them in his empty garage fridge, so he just threw them away. Didn't even ask!:astonished: Not a "break" story, but same outcome. Cheers!

A long time ago I pulled a bottle of beer from the cooler at a convenience store. The stupid holder in the front broke off and all the bottles behind it started sliding off. And my dumbass just stared as they all go shattering on the floor.

My shelf broke in my cellar with a bunch of HotD vintages. Managed to catch a majority of them before they fell, but some unlucky bottles broke at the top (still drinkable though).

"I guess I should drink these, despite the fact that it's 10AM."

even just a 12oz bottle sounds like a gunshot. felt like it exploded. of course i was baked and expecting to enjoy my Enjoy By not clean it up for what felt like a lifetime.

A few weeks ago one of my 2010 DFH World Wide Stouts fell from the cellar when I was organizing and busted the cap off. No glass broken and I was able to salvage the beer.

I've only had one other bottle break on me. Weirdly it was another DFH, Theabroma. I was able to salvage a small amount for a tasting but most of the 750ml bottle was filled with shards of glass. I weighed the risk of filtering some but thought it wasn't worth it considering it was a $10 bottle. I like my esophagus into he shape it's in.

No biggie, it's beer. Back in those days you could buy Rare online from a lot of places at regular shelf price. Not like I didn't have other bottles either. Now, people treat this stuff like gold bars or something. That's why I'm getting closer to just drinking shelf beer. Beer jumped the shark a long time ago.

Close but no cigar: I was carrying a Stone Ruin Ten in from the car this afternoon. It was in a plastic grocery sack. I tripped coming up the steps and almost went down. Fortunately, there were no casualties. (And no one was watching.)

Not beer, but a friend of mine brought me a souvenir pack of three different Japanese sakes he had picked up in Tokyo. I had them sitting side-by-side on a pantry shelf. So far, two of them have met unfortunate fates due to my clumsiness. What really sucks is that I had not sampled either one.

I bought a bottle of Kings Ale and had it shipped to me. Arrived broke. Smelled wonderful; small consolation.

I was moving into my condo eleven years ago and a big bottle of Rogue Chocolate Stout fell out of a bag and hit the sidewalk. That was one great smelling sidewalk.

Lost a Barrel Roll 3 by Hangar 24 due to a faulty plastic bag, fell right out if the bottom and smashed all over the pavement right in front of a bottle share I was going to. Sadly I only brought one beer to that share instead of two...
