I received a box yesterday and it was all beat up, smashed and even had a gaping hole that I could actually see the bottom of one of the bottles through. All is good that ends well, nothing broken. Any other horror stories that end good?

Looks like a box that has housed its fair share of beer. It may be time for retirement.

lol, no shit. At that point, it looks less like a box and more like someone wrapped cardboard over your beer

I got a box once, opened it, and there was an unbroken bottle of a White Birch beer in it.

I haven't received one that looked like that (yet). But one of my recent trading partners told me that the box I sent him got the shit beat out of it, however no broken bottles because I use a stupid amount of packing material.

Cheers go out to those who package a box good enough to withstand a fall off a truck thats going 120 mph in a hurricane off the side of a cliff.

My latest visual horror was a box from overseas arrived on my front porch that included the recent Framboos and Armand/Tomme blend. The framboos was sticking out of the side of the box from the cap, half way down the neck. For the life of me I dont know how it didnt break. Maybe the thin layer of bubble wrap it still contained around it? But why they didnt confiscate it is beyond me.

Under any other circumstance, I would have taken pics but I knew what was suppose to be in the box and my heart was skipping beats as I was tearing it apart to verify nothing broke.

I have a horror story that is not ending up well at all:

    http://www.fedex.com/Tracking?language=english&cntry_code=us&tracknumbers=075415115000205

This was a box going from Queens, NY to Evanston, IL. A bottle broke in transit (a first for me). Now the box has been delivered to an address I lived at two moves ago and 50 miles away - with 4 bottles completely gone and 2 half empty (wtf?). I am thinking no more fed ex for me.

FedEx tried to break your/my bottles. FTowne ships bomb proof boxes FYI.

i've gotten a couple crumpled up boxes as in the OP. no bottle breaks though, nor anything missing. full disclosure though, i have notoriously good luck. it's really not fair to take anything that happens in my life as indicative of general experience. i think i sold my soul to the devil as a child or something.

Yesterday I got a call at work from my wife, and when I answered she was slightly frantic... The first words out of her mouth were "Please tell me you set up a beer trade and didn't tell me...". Apparently, a fair number of people at her company (HR Director, Receptionist, Receiving staff) thought she received a package from the Unibomber. Awesome! Squished box, holes, duct tape, with black sharpie all over the duct tape, super heavy and super duper small package, that rattled and cracked when you lifted it.

I sent an embarrassingly full box of beer to a regular trader that was carried off the truck from the bottom, because the tape couldn't hold it closed. Whether it was the tape job or the amount of beer: I will let you decide...

I've received a couple beat up boxes, but none of those things gave me fear like the bag I received at the Seattle airport on Sunday. It was opened, and completely covered in TSA plastice wrap, sans zipper closure - very worried, but the folks at PDX airport rewrapped every bottle as intended and none were harmed. I love PDX.

I'm trying to think if it's FTowne that ships his in a box, inside another paper stuffed box. Sort of like beer trade inception. If so, I agree, unbreakable

I sent a styro 3 bottle shipper inside of another box wrapped in bubble wrap (that weighed 21 pounds for 3 bottles to give you an idea of the amount of insane packing material used), yet somehow FedEx managed to break a CBS. It must have fallen out of a truck doing 80mph. Unreal.

i got a box from CA last summer that had multiple baseball-sized holes on two different sides. luckily the GROWLER and everything else inside was okay. not really sure how that could have happened.

I sent a box to Texas with 17 12 oz beers in it. Only 5 of them survived the trip. One of the extras I included was a can, which I had wrapped in bubble wrap. The recipient said the can looked like it was kicked down the road as it was all dented and scuffed up. How it became unwrapped and then presumably found its way out of the box, on the ground, and back into the box I guess I will never know.

Those FedEx guys really had a field day with that box!

I have a regular trading partner with a great sense of humor send me a trade in a big diaper box! Luckily there were no dirty diapers in it.

Another trade Around Super Bowl time he sent me a bottle of bud light wrapped in patriots logo. When giants won the super bowl I sent him 10'bottles of our trade all wrapped in giant logos , pictures of Eli manning, etc.! He is a big Cowboys fan. When Giants won bowl I was even happier knowing I was going to send that box!
