It's easy to hide behind the excuse that no formal trade was setup, so any action is fair and acceptable.

It's also easy to completely block someone out when your actions fall under criticism, with no intention of ever making an attempt to make things right.

There's a reason posting auction-like trades is frowned upon, and acting as a auctioneer behind the scenes should be just as frowned upon.

    Go at it, boys.

It's almost like this was foreseeable.

I can't speak for anyone else, but it's really not my intent to "go at it" with anyone. What's done is done.

I do think, however, that this can continue as a healthy conversation about what's an acceptable/unacceptable way to conduct oneself in trade situations.

Once we start "going at it," we all look like fools and the thread gets killed.

For the record, I 100% refuse to ship any beer until a formal trade request has been sent & accepted. I wouldn't expect any less from anyone I trade with either. Once you can leave feedback, there is no more "oh I think I want to change this" type nonsense.

Also, if it matters, I've been trading on BA since 2006 and absolutely applaud the new system.

I had trouble dealing with this guy too. He was trying to 'maximize' his trades with me too by asking for too much. I didn't have any other bad experience with him since we stopped talking after no deal was made.

Here we go...I didn't accept a trade someone else wanted to execute for multiple HF bottles and im "asking for too much". What? This is getting predictably inane. Do people realize that you literally have to drive to the ends of the earth to get these bottles? Its like 30 miles from Canada and requires an almost 6hr round trip. If a deal doesn't make sense, no ones going to do it and the addition of random cellar beers isn't going to make it any more appealing.
Pretty much done with this thread. If you want to call me "bad man", fine. I will say that if we have agreed on a trade and its properly accepted there is no problem.
    1. If someone mistreats me, im not going to mule beer for you.
    2. If there has been no deal agreed upon or requested, there will be no package sent out(is this so crazy?)
    3. if someone doesn't like a trade someone suggests, there is no reason to accept it and being attacked for "wanting too much"(completely subjective) is ridiculous.

Just don't know what else to say...

Purely objective response, with no regard to any of the context above.
    1. Point one seems reasonable.
    2. Agree to disagree here. I don't think there has been any sort of consensus as to how the trade feedback mechanism is designed to work. In the few trades I've done since it has come on-line, I've honestly let the request sit open until the trade it done. Then I agree to feedback and leave my feedback once both sides are happy. I could very easily be the only person who does it this way. I see the trade tracking/request/feedback feature purely as a way to keep people honest and help weed out the good from the bad. If someone expects me to click confirm before they ship, I would hope they would tell me. Otherwise it would just sit in my notifications.
    3. Out of context this statement is completely true. Nothing to add.

Regarding travel times to HF and it being in the middle of nowhere. Super slippery slope. While you're not there yet, people will jump on this as the "Pay for my gas, tolls, tire wear, etc." complaint. If I'm driving to HF (haven't made the trip yet) and I'm looking at it as a chore, or worried about how much $/time I'm losing in getting there and back to grab some beer, then I'm doing it wrong.

Anyone else notice that the amount of people disagreeing on whether a deal has been struck has increased exponentially since this new trading system was put in place?

Using the "official" trading system does not a contract make.

If I trade beer with someome, beermail would be sufficient unless I am trying to establish a trade history or the other person is trying to do the same.

If someone is being a pain in the ass, put a note on you profile page and reference it.

You might have left these out, but I could be wrong_
    4. It costs me a lot of money to track down these .rar beers, of course I want to maximize the value in my trades, if you don't you are a sucker.
    5. If you don't like the way I go about this trading game, I would understand and would have no prob. if I never trade with any of you. Ever.

This thread reminds me why I stick to the 4-5 solid trading partners I deal with. I've never had a problem, but this kind of profiteering pops up every day to some degree. I get that some beers trade higher than their $4$ value, but once you handshake on a trade it's done, then you ship. The new trading format makes it much safer IMO, the Bros did a good job with this.

I actually greatly disagree with the first sentence of your post. Here's why: beermail is private. Short of copy/pasting your entire dialogue to prove that someone isn't upholding their end of the trade, it doesn't help the trading community on the whole. But the "official" trading system is a publicly-accessible feedback system, so that should someone take the d-bag route, or screw you over, you can post that info for all to see.

I think it even rewards your "regular" trading partners by having them enjoy consistently great feedback (thus the distinction between unique/repeat traders in each BA members' trade statistics).
