Wow, The Copper Mine Pub is Closing???

    hows it going...

    well everybody, we have some bad news. do to a sequence of uncontrollable events, at the end of the month we will be closing the doors to the copper mine. we apologize but this has been a very tough and stressful decision to make. we are very grateful and appreciative of all the awesome people who we met over the last almost 7 years. it has been a great feeling to have created a place where people like to hang out and to know people like what we do enough to have made us one of the most liked and recognized beer bars in the state. everybody has been really great and supportive of what we have done here over the past several years.

    the last day will be friday june 26th. so up until then we will be running thru the last of our keg inventory, and will be tapping some great beers from the cellar. to say thank you, beers will be $2 off, most growlers will be half off and if you have a kegerator some kegs will be for sale. if you have growlers remember to bring them, we are almost out.

    in closing, thank you. I hope I get to see everybody before we close. this truly has been fun and it was great meeting all of you. please keep in contact. and always remember, drink beer not labels.

    Got this email as well. Very sad to see it go. I don't go there as much anymore since I moved about 4 years ago, but I try to pop in whenever I'm in the area. Not sure what the circumstances were that forced them to close but I wish them the best.

    That's too bad. Not sure what the reasons are behind this but I get the impression Vito has new opportunities in front of him (cheese biz?). Wish I had the chance to hang there more over the years.

    Sad, but they apparently were one of those places that had fake reviewers rate the place (give it a 5 and never be heard of on BA again). Place was located in my old stomping grounds, a true craft beer wasteland.

    Wow that could not be further from the truth. Nobody needed to give that place a fake review. There was a bar packed full of people last night to say goodbye to Vito and give the Mine a proper send off. There will never be another place like the Copper Mine. Vito, Matt, Rob, Nikki, Pete, and everyone else that has worked there over the years made that place feel like a second home. If anyone asks about the community surrounding craft beer, I only need to tell stories of the last seven years at the Copper Mine. No pretension, no exclusion, just good beer, good food, and great people.

    Flashy is correct that a lot of the 4/5 and 5/5 reviews on this site are from one time reviewers---I loved the place so I agree with you gregkoko, but some folks seemed to go out of their way to review and dash so that can lead to people speculating.

    They may be from one time reviewers but those people could simply be lurkers or they just don't go anywhere else. I lived in Jersey the majority of my life and 99% of the time I went to a beer bar it was the Copper Mine. I certainly would not be qualified to review anywhere else. More taking issue with implying that the Mine paid people to bump their ratings.

    Sorry, did not mean to imply that the establishment itself had people give the place phony ratings. Wish The Copper Mine was open when I lived in the area.
