Anyone hear when the next batch of Wulver will be released?

They posted, a couple weeks ago on their facebook, that they just emptied a ton of bourbon barrels.

Couple of weeks ago. I had one in the tap room. A lot of stores still had some left from last year too

This thread subject pops up often. In my opinion, they are both great...and different. Wulver is a bit more "chewy" and bourbon-forward. Backwoods is more complex and affordable. I could never afford (or find) a whole case of Wulver. Just bought a full case of Backwoods. Not cheap...but within my range of affordability and just as high quality.
This is one of my favorite types of beers..so to add to these top-two BA Wee Heavy's, I would add Clown Shoes Ride The Lion: just a step below Wulver and Backwoods Bastard. Wow, I'm getting thirsty just writing this!

I drink both BB and Wulver, thoroughly enjoy both, and rate both over a 4. I prefer Wulver, based purely on intensity and complexity of the flavor profile. Wulver also drinks less "hot" to me fresh, but that could just be my proximity to Kentucky and the Bourbon Trail speaking - Wulver's alcohol heat hits in my stomach, not in my mouth.

Yes, I am from Ohio. This is how I'm able to get hold of Wulver - I don't believe Thirsty Dog has anywhere near the distribution footprint of Founders, but I could be wrong. I am also from the bottom left corner of Ohio, while Thirsty Dog is pretty close to the top right corner. For personal taste notes, I find Siberian Night to be an only okay RIS, the only other thing I've tried from Thirsty Dog that I've thought was all right is Old Leghumper, and I don't particularly enjoy the majority of beer brewed here in good ol' Cincy (and not for lack of trying).

Funny thing is this used to be such an under the radar beer, very easy to find and grab, sat for quite a bit often, but that's really changed now in the past years.

Gotta go with backwoods simply because of value. Wulver is a better beer and if I'm just going to buy a single I'd go with wulver. However I can get a 4pk of backwoods for $11 less than a 4pk of wulver. I'd rather get the backwoods and another sixer of something else vs. a single 4pk of wulver. My 2ยข.

Wulver is the better beer but I'd rather have 6 BB's vs. 4 Wulver's for the price.

It would be nice to have Wulver readily available, but wouldn't buy it often at the price. BB is also excellent...but the madness around getting some of these beers makes them a lot less desirable. It's hard to acquire it and enjoy it if you can't get to the store the day it releases or within a few hours sometimes. Central Waters BBSA is a strong replacement for either.

Yeah, the store where I bought both had them for $3.75 and $6.00 for singles. 1.6 Backwoodses for 1 Wulver seems pretty decent.

Is much harder and more expensive beer as good or better than readily available and cheaper beer?

Wulver > Backwoods Bastard. 12 percent Brew that hides its booze is an instant winner. Plus I liked the barrel notes more on Wulver.

As great as it is $26 is tough to swallow for me @ least. I like them both. Haven't had enough of each, especially Wulver to pick it over Backwoods Bastard.

A couple months ago I stumbled upon a case of Wulver. It was expensive as fuck. But I bought that mofo with the quickness because it's one of the best beers I've ever had. It already had nearly a year on it already. I recently bought a case of Backwoods Bastard too, and immediately did a side by side.

Backwoods Bastard is an amazing barrel aged scotch ale...but Wulver is just ridiculous. I felt like I was doing a serious disservice to the Backwoods Bastard by drinking it alongside the Wulver.

My preference is Wulver. However, in absence of it, I'd drink a Backwoods Bastard every day of the week. Suffice to say, they're both at the top of the class.

That's $6.50 for a bottle, or roughly $13 for a bomber/750mL of world class barrel aged scotch ale. I'd pay that price all day every day.

Hiding the booze in a higher ABV beer no matter the style, is an art form to me. If it's big, palatable & damn near sessionable look out, I'm gonna need a ride.

You know people will pay 18 to 20 dollars for a craft bomber look at it as you are getting two bombers!!

And yet somehow, I can wrap my head around the $13 bomber. But then if Ten Fidy was a 4 pack of pints, instead of 12oz, I'd buy it more as well. Everybody's got a budget.
