Yeah...people have weird perceptions going on regarding what they pay for 12 ounces of something, versus what they pay for 22 or 25.4 ounces of something. Even though technically one's just twice as much as the other, the thought of paying twice as much, for twice as much...gets some people turned off.

Barrel-aged beers are overrated in my opinion. I just don't find notes of bourbon in my beer to be pleasant. I'd rather just have actual straight bourbon.

For me w/a bomber, if I open it, it's going down. There's no going back, unless I'm sharing it w/a friend there's no saving it & I have to be all in for it. So to that point despite the tag a 4-pack is an easier hang @ 12oz a pop.

It is always less than twice the beer 22 oz is less than 24.

and never priced on par with the 12oz.

For me I find this to be true w/Kentucky Bourbon Barrel ale; I'd rather have a bourbon that a muddled version in an average ale.

I've walked past Wulver every week for the past few months, and no matter how many times I see it, I can't pull the trigger on a $25-$30 4 pack. Backwoods doesn't exactly blow me away, but at $11/4pk I can afford enough of it to experiment with aging, which is a plus

When I run into a bottle of Wulver less than 10$ I will let you guys know. I would be stoked to catch it on draft for 5 or 6 bucks. As someone else said I have walked past bottles of last years Wulver for about a year now and I guess the shop will start selling verticals at this rate.

I'll have to do a side by side... I actually dont think the 'BA Siberian Night' is miles away from KBS either. The value is where Thirsty Dog will lose people.

I know a place that actually has a case of Wulver in stock. If you're in the SE PA area and are interested, drop me a BM.

Obviously $6 a bottle is not inexpensive beer, but this is how I look at it too. I passed the point of no return a long time ago anyway. Most bombers for something of this quality are the same or more, yet you can enjoy them 1 at a time. I just bought a Gravedigger Billy Wee Heavy from Revolution for $16. Firestone's run around $18. Bourbon County stuff isnt much less. Cheap? No. But I dont feel guilty for drinking them like I do my $12 Jackie O's bottles. :grimacing:

Now if you want to compare perceived value between BB and Wulver, that's another story.

One store I know that has Wulver is selling it for $28 per 4 pack so I haven't even considered buying it yet.

That's a shame. Awesome beer for the price.

I wish had more BA Scotch ale available locally in 12oz format. I love both - can't decide which is better.

Gotta be the Wulver. I'm hoarding 2 bottles in my cellar. Can't wait for its return in 2015!!

I am very lucky to get both Wulver and Backwoods around here; however, Backwoods is 14.99 and Wulver was 24.99. Both awesome beers but Backwoods Bastard edges Wulver by a slim margin here.

I've always looked at the price of Wulver compared to bombers as well. One place I get it, a 4 pack of Wulver runs $25 and change, and a few aisles away, a 22 of Alesmith Wee Heavy goes for $13.

At that price point, I have no issues at all grabbing the Wulver.

It's like choosing which of my children I like better. Love both of these beers. Easier to get Wulver since it sits on shelves due to price. But Backwoods price vs flavor and overall value is hard to beat. Will be doing a blind tasting Thanksgiving weekend with Wulver13' and 14', Backwoods 13 and 14' , BA big Sound, CW BA Scotch, De Silly BA Scotch, and Alesmith BA Wee Heavy. Can't wait!

Even to me, but at $10 less than Wulver, backwood is my choice. I think $26 a four pack is just too much, many other great beers for less.
