Anyone tried this yet? I'm still not ready for pumpkin beers, but this one has me interested.

Pompoen is way better this year than it was last year. Last year it wasn't very sour and it wasn't even that pumpkin-y. This year, it's quite sour and it plays well with the spices that are now a lot more apparent. Had Xibalba last night. Smell was like a generic pumpkin beer but the flavor is very nice. Good amount of cocoa nib sweetness and a creeping chili burn. Both are good but I prefer Pompoen.

P.S. I have both FT right now if anyone's interested.

Had a bottle of Xibalba last night. It really grew on me as it warmed. The spicy chillies were a nice addition.

Does anyone know if any of these made it to distro, or are they brewery only? Need to decide to make the trek to Asheville again or not.

They are in distro; bottles and kegs. I tried the Xibalba and thought it was OK. I didn't get ANY heat from it though.

At Stella perhaps? Maybe a walk over there for me is indeed in order!

Yep at Stella Brew (I grabbed it on Wednesday morning) and he had a couple of half cases.

They might have gotten a keg of it as well, can't recall.

I did not like Pompoen last year. It sounds like it has been tweaked a bit and that I should try this years batch.

I drank a bottle of Xibalba last night and thought it was pretty good. I liked the chilis and nibs making it a little less pumpkin beer standard.

I'm not sure if this one was brewed this year but I remember liking the Burning Ham Porter the best last year.

I'm drinking a Xibalba now. I don't really like pumpkin beers. There always too sweet, but I'm digging this. It's mild on the pumpkin pie spices and the chiles do add a slight burn which is a nice addition. I would like to see a bourbon barrel version of this.

I bought a bottle of Pompoen last week. Going to wait until it cools down a bit more to drink it but by the label description i'm excited.

Had a bottle of Xibalba over the weekend and thought it was really good. The chocolate is probably the most obvious flavor, with the pumpkin spice and chili in the background. No heat to speak of (imo) but the flavor from the peppers was very welcome.

Yeah I had Xibalba over the weekend, the biggest thing from the chilies was more vegital rather than heat. It was a decent beer, just not one I would seek out a bunch.

It is hilarious to me how much palates can differ. I could only make it about halfway through the bottle because the chilies were so intense that it overwhelmed the beer for me.

The first few sips were nice though. I did get the chocolate and other spices at first, but once the heat kicked in, I really didn't want anymore.

Yeah, my tolerance for heat is exteme. To compare heat levels with similar-ish beers....

    MC '15 > Oro Negros > Mayan Mocha > Abraxas > Bomb > Xibalba
