I am trying to help a buddy put together a recipe for a Cal Commons, and have a question about starter size for the yeast. How big of a starter does he need to make to have adequate cell count for using the WY California Lager? OG should be around 1.052, 5.25 gallons. He would be doing intermittent shaking. I am a little confused on which setting to used on Mr Malty for hybrids. Thanks for the help.

You do realize that there is a hybrid setting in Mr Maltys Yeast Calculator?

Not really on topic, but if you are bottle conditioning, be aware that 2112 takes a long time to get there. No worries, it will be fine, but allow 3-4 weeks for bottle conditioning rather than the 1-2 you might be used to.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll pass it along.
