Anyone try this one? I see they just canned it and its hit the local Fort Collins shelves. As a fan of the style when done right, this one has my interest. But it being Wynkoop and my track record with them being underwhelmed with their offerings, not sure what to expect from this one.
My dad ordered it on father's day and judging by my one large sip I'd say it's pretty good. Definitely on the hoppy side for the style, but has a nice thick body to offset some of the hops. Not sure the price point in stores, but it's one of the better offerings I've had from the 'Koop.
Definitely going to try this one but I'm a little bummed to hear it's on the hoppy side. I'd like a nice malty red ale, they seem to be pretty rare around these parts.
Agreed. I think Odell nailed the hoppy version a few years ago and everyone seems to be using that as the benchmark. I'd love to see more like Annapurna, Backcountry Amber, or even in the vein of Fat Tire.
If the price point is right, thinking I will have to give this one a shot. Would love to find a single of this, but not hopeful. I enjoy some hops with the reds, but only to a degree. I definitely agree that Odell nailed it (one of my favorite beers), while I found Elevations and Marbles Red's went a little too strong on the hops for my liking. Interested to see where this one falls. Off topic, but I need to give the Equinox O'Rion Irish Red a second shot, as the reviews for it here are all much higher than mine were and I am starting to think I simply tried it on a day when I wasn't quite in the mood for the style. Definitely a red without much hop presence from what I remember for those interested in that style.
I'm not sure how far they distribute, but the Lone Tree Acres 'O Green is a terrific malty red. It's an Irish red, rather than an American one, but I think it'll speak to the malt lovers out there.
