I have much studying to do for my cicerone, and also updating my C.P.O (Certified Pool Operator) for the state of Wyoming but I thought I would like to write a book on Wyoming craft beer! I plan on visiting ALL the breweries anyway so that will be one huge step in the right direction! Thoughts or advice? Thanks!!
I'm sure you're probably aware of them, but Snake River is/was one of the best breweries in the entire region. They might still be, but we stopped getting their beers down here and I haven't had anything lately.
I do love Snake River and I have no idea when I will be heading that way. I know I have already checked out Luminous Brewhouse(where I am getting brewing lessons and advice) BlackTooth, Gillette Brewing and Prairie Fire. I just had Tensleep Brewing No Name IPA and man it was on point! So I will be heading there sometime in April for a brew tour then from there Clear Creak in Buffalo (or vice versa). Going to Casper in May for my class and I will check out the brewery down there( it is not coming to mind now). Very exciting this journey!
This year's Wyoming Collaboration brew will be an Imperial Pilsner. One of my least favorite styles so, go ahead and impress me.
Yeah pilsners are not my top go to styles but I am enjoying SR Monarch even after some great ipas today! lol
Lander Brewing company makes some decent beers, if you're ever nearby. I haven't been there super recently, but I have had their beer on tap in the last year-and-a-half or so, and they were still solid. Also if you ever make it down to the southeast corner of the state, Laramie has three breweries now and they all make between middling and very good beers. Coal Creek makes a few really good IPAs and both the Library and Altitude's have some good ones here and there. Anybody that says that one well-known thing in Jackson ends the discussion on anything else that is good or 'worthy' in Wyoming doesn't know what the fuck they are talking about... Notice that little dude's face is green ; )
The distance between of these breweries is anywhere from 2 to 6 hours away but that will not deter me from visiting. In April I plan on visiting Tensleep Brewery from my way back from Billings. Clear Creek is about another half hour from Sheridan so its not bad but do not know when I will get there. I know they are only open Thursday thru Sunday only.
Had a surprise visit from one of the guys from Teton Distrubitors and he said that Tensleep at this time has been on par with production with Blacktooth. I know Blacktooth is close to finishing their expansion as well so that will change.
