Just got back from LA for work. When I was on my way home I stopped at a "something" brewing company that was complete BS. Not only did they not have any of their own beer, the closest thing to craft they offered was Stella. Are there any of these blatantly false "breweries" in other parts of the country?
We've had a few of them in NJ. This place, which apparently evolved into a pretty good craft beer bar for the area, picked the unfortunately deceptive name of "Goodnight Irene's Brew Pub". I'm sure their claim was that they were a "pub" that sold "brew" --- eh, but that ain't how it works. An even worse example (which opened and closed rather quick) was this place, The Cellar Lounge and Microbrewery. Again, they merely served "microbrews", and not very many of them, either. (My review here on BA, where the place's name was corrected). There have also been a few ex-brewpubs in the area which kept the name but either no longer brewed on site or brew very little/with few of their own beers on tap - like Porterhouse Brewpub in Lahaska, PA (you can even see the old "River Horse" sign on the photo - from a time a number of years back when that nearby NJ brewery was doing their beers - they would later be done by Yards IIRC). Simarly, there's Egan & Sons in Montclair, NJ. Read the reviews and notice the confusion over their "house beers", and also note the fact that their own brews have "0" reviews.
Personally I don't know of any. Reason being - if I walk into a place that purports to be a craft beer bar and they have taps of any macros, I immediately walk out and erase the place from my memory bank.
