I don't know, my luck with tequila as well as Mexican beers is bad.

I went out to dinner for my mom's birthday last month to a Mexican restaurant. My girlfriend and I got into a conversation with our waiter about craft beer and small batch tequila. He said it is coming, and Mexicans that have tried US craft want more and more of it. He also gave my girlfriend a list of tequila and mezcal to try when she is down there in April.

Maybe... more Mexican-style stouts? As if we needed more?

Saw this earlier and thought it was a decent article. But, like pretty much any article Yahoo! posts, the damn title is so dramatic. They like to speak in hyperboles. Changes everything? C'mon...

I've had a tequila barrel-aged beer (forget which one, but I think it was a saison) and was pleasantly surprised.

I guess they forgot about these guys, who have been making craft beer since 2006 or so...

And I took a trip to Tijuana about ten years ago and visited a brewpub called Tijuana Brewing Company. A Google search shows no trace of it, so it must have gone out of business.

Oh, and Golden Road Brewing did a tequila-barrel-aged hefeweizen. It was not good. Maybe a stronger beer could stand up to the flavor?

I'm sure there are, and will be some fine Mexican microbreweries, but in general I don't see it becoming a part of their culture like it has become here. I hope it does catch on, my wife is from Mexico, I genuinely appreciate their culture.

Yeah, when I made this thread, I just titled it "Mexican Craft Beer" because I thought the same thing. Not even a minute later and it was changed. Sigh.

Didn't the Bruery make some kind of high abv lime saison they aged in tequila barrels for awhile?

Dude, the mango and honey beers from that Baja company sound pretty tasty to me. Would give a fair shot.

I'm a little more hesitant about tequila aged beers. Tequila makes me very angry. And makes me regret it the next morning like nothing else.
