On the other hand, the dark beer on the left looks kinda like sludge.

It looks like they only use 3 malts in brewing. Base - caramel 60 and like black patent.

These YT threads have been a bit harsh. However I hope this thread stays around because I really hope for a day when I see a positive (non planted) review that convinces me to try them again.

This seems to be a common theme with some less-than-stellar breweries, as I've had quite a few stouts and brown ales that look like that at various places over the years. Dark beers may hide some of the flaws in the taste (more than pale beers), but too much trub still results in a weird, unpleasant mouthfeel.

I see their tap list now includes a brut ipa. If any brave souls make it over there I would love to hear thoughts.

do any of their brewers/owners have a presence on BA as opposed to just lurking?

Would love to get some discussions going a la Augie/Shane in the past

I have had Yale Terrace shortly after they opened. It was so bad I couldn't finish it. I want them to do well but it is inexcusable they still have the same issues/complaints today as they did when they first opened.

Not to mention that time they held a "learn to brew beer" class and then actually sold the beer that their customers made.

I’m of two minds with this. On one hand, I think shame on people for acccepting terrible beer and keeping this place and others like it open, giving craft beer a bad name. On the other hand I guess people can drink what they like and I can choose to stay away from places like this.

Wait. They had a brewing class, and then sold it to the people who took the class? Shouldn't drinking what you made be included in whatever fees they charged?

Or do you mean they kegged the beer and added it to their taps for sale to other customers? I guess both options look pretty bad.

People can drink wherever they want and spend their money wherever they want. If they are successful then good for them.

this one. They have since deleted their instragram posts advertising it. If I am incorrect someone please correct me, but that is my recollection.

    You are correct.
I believe each student received a growler full and the remainder went up for sale.

I could not tell you about their posts as I am blocked on their Instagram and Twitter

public instagram, just access the profile via incognito mode.

also they have a wine infused IPA.Sounds like they read through the November Trillium thread and said "hmmmm so we can just pour other alcohol into beers?"

*Meeting between YT and Graphic Artist*

YT: Ok, so the beer is called Ox and Goat, what can you do with that?

GA: I dunno, I can have an ox and a goat staring mennacingly at each other?

YT: ehhhhh you're on the right track, but a little weak.

GA: ok, ok, curveball... except they're the product of a gene splicing experiment gone horribly wrong?

YT: Hot damn! Now we're cooking with gas! Make it happen....
