Any obvious issues, or different hop combinations I should consider? I also have plenty of galaxy and simcoe on hand... 2-Row - 85% Flaked Oats - 10% CaraPils - 2.5% Crystal 20 - 2.5% Bitter with Columbus @ 60min 0.5oz Citra / 0.5oz Centennial @ 10min 1oz Citra / 1oz Centennial @5min 0.5oz Citra / 0.5oz Centennial @ Flameout - whirlpool 30min Mash Temp: 150-151 Water Profile: Ca 109 - Mg 16 - Na 4 - Cl 45 - SO4 209 Mash pH: 5.45 Target OG 1.05 - FG 1.010 IBU 52
Like FeDub above, I'd consider backing IBUs a bit. Maybe stick some of that Columbus in later. I'd probably like it as is, too.
Would the reason to drop the IBU`s be due to the yeast strain tolerance or for style? My goal is to end up with a session IPA / pale kind of thing....
If its a session IPA, leave it, if its a Pale, others are suggesting to drop the IBU's to hit the typical IBU range for a Pale. http://lousbrews.info/BJCPInfo/BJCPStylesIBUChart.pdf
Would a higher mash temp on this be appropriate to maintain mouthfeel, or will the 10% flaked oats be sufficient for that? I do plan to use a normal Pale/IPA fermentation schedule, so no extended period for the brett to eat everything.
