I concur. I really like sucks but bought an old 32 oz bottle and had to force it down. I still drank it but there was zero enjoyment except the buzz and when I finished it.

The beer is still fairly hazy but the color is significantly darker and also fresh heady has zero floaties at the bottom from my experience. If you have floaties it mean someone traded you old heady...sorry. I think this shows how great cans are and how important it is to keep your IPAs cold is....wait did you say how you stored the beer?

I think it was a drain pour halfway through. Thankfully I can stop guessing with those 32oz bottles now that 6 packs are back.

Probably looks hazy after the pour into your glass because of the pour from the can. It got partly re-hazed.

Looks like lots of glug glug glug agitation stirred up the sediment at the bottom of the can, 'mixed some loose stuff back into the liquid and brought out those clumps at the bottom of the glass along with the liquid.

I've done this and all I can say is that it still tasted good. And that's all I really care about.

I've got a zombie dust from 2/2/14. Not sure why I still have it or if I'll ever drink it. But this has me interested in comparing it to a fresh zd.

About a year ago an acquaintance at a bar gave me a Heady that was in his trunk for about 6 months. When I made it home it fell out of my hands as they were full with other things. It survived but the can is mangled. I've had it in my closet since. I can't imagine it tasting good whenever I decide to drink it.

Sucks in 6 packs? Yep, they're back. Still a seasonal.

The 14 at the end didn't register with me and I thought you meant it was just over a month old. I was gonna slap someone.

ZD drops off so quick. Do the comparison. I bought two cases of ZD in November and it took me 3mo. to get through it. It really lost the citra favor and tasted a bit malty, not even close to as enjoyable as it was the day I got it. Fresh ZD is great, but I learned my lesson buying two cases.

Someone please confirm this? I refuse to buy the quarts without dates.

I had one 6 months old and quite liked it (yes, the hops dropped off, but it mellowed very nicely and tasted very good). I've been running an experiment with a 6 pack, opening a bottle every 3 to 4 months. I like the way it's aging.

Whoa now, big guy. Calm down over there. IIRC, Kimmich says his beer tastes good after a year, not that it tastes the same as it did fresh. These are two completely different things. I'm not saying the beer is gonna taste like shit, but I am most definitely confident in saying that it will not taste even remotely the same as fresh.

I've said this before in other posts. I'm lucky enough to work in VT a couple times a month and I pick up heady everytime I'm there. I did my own taste testing with a 6 month old can kept in the back of my 35F fridge and a fresh can. Heady fresh is hoppy goodness in a can. The 6 month old heady drop off "slightly to moderately" in hops, but man I'll tell you a juicy fruity flavor you can't believe popped up in it's place. I have another heady I've been sitting on that should be exactly 1 year old in 8/2015. I'll let you know how that one is in a couple of months.

I've done this experiment. 11/13 can consumed with a group in 11/14. It was much clearer, with the hop flavors being completely recognizable as HT but diminished. I have one more of that batch hanging out in the back of my fridge (~43*F) for a follow up experiment.

Have had year old Heady Topper and year old Abrasive (canned also) and it was still excellent. I can think of several other fresh IPAs I'd pass over in favor of either year old beer anytime.

I've been aging a Heady that I bought 365 days ago, and am enjoying it now. Nice smell, nice taste, nice feel. Only a slight amount of skunkiness. A nice experiment, but one that I won't do again. Glad I did it though.

My buddy saved a Heady from a Dec '14 batch, and we opened it last night alongside a can from about 8 weeks ago. Truly amazing how well the year-old can stands up. It wasn't the better of the 2, obviously. Noticeably less carbonation, but still plenty of flavor remaining, and very drinkable. Is there any other DIPA that can boast such longevity? I'm certainly not aware of one.

I'm 4 months late on posting this but I had my year old head in Aug... still was dank and piney... very drinkable... I feel 6 months is still the sweet spot
