    Oversized starters. Have 6 strains on hand right now. Will have a 7th once I brew my tripel (3522). Use the same mason jars as portlargo

    Mostly fresh yeast, but I have tried all of the above.

    Interesting idea, and one I don't think I had heard before. But what's the purpose of building up pressure in the keg starting a day or two before brewday? Is it just to ensure that the liquid will exit the keg without having another opening?

    @VikeMan , yes just natural CO2 pressure to avoid hooking up gas lines. Depending, but I usually don't have issues getting a couple pints off after a good shake and buildup of natural CO2 for two days.

    I'm about to pull a spoonful of my yeastcake off of a 1.045 Irish red and I'll make a starter with that spoonful for another beer. No washing. I'll use the rest of the current yeast cake for an RIS I'll brew this weekend. This is common for me to split yeast cultures when I know I'm going to ruin the rest of it. I dunno if that fits into one of your slots above. :slight_smile:
