My wife has been struggling with her milk supply and is wanting to find ways to boost it. She has found this recipe for lactation cookies that requires brewers yeast. I have a few mason jars of yeast in the fridge. So my question is, does anyone know the equivalent of liquid yeast from my last batch of stout to the dry stuff you get from the health food store? And is there any significant difference between the two? Thanks
I think your flavor is going to be quite different. The stuff at a health food store isn't the same as 001. Nutrition wise, you could just be looking into B vitamins.
Don't make those cookies without more research. Brewers yeast for cooking is made of dead yeast cells, not live ones which is what is used to ferment beer, and I don't know the ramifications of using live yeast.
Believe it or not I heard that hops increase milk production. A friend of mine who was pregnant about a year ago was having problems. Her doctor said to go find hoppy beers and have one a day. It worked for her. I would consult your doctor before doing anything though. Cheers!
