Hi all! Just started drinking on a keg of Bo-Pils fermented with WLP800. I have used this yeast quite a bit and like it a lot. The problem is that this beer tastes like it was fermented with wheat beer yeast. I did have a problem getting this yeast to ferment at 54 degrees so I brought the temp up to 60 degrees and it finished there. The beer is tasty but not part of my plan. This thread is in no way to bad mouth the manufacturer just to see if I am the only one. Take care.
Jim, can you elucidate on: “The problem is that this beer tastes like it was fermented with wheat beer yeast.” When you state “wheat yeast” is that like a Hefeweizen yeast strain? Cheer!
I did a wheat yeast in a milk stout by accident once. It was decent. With better planning it could have been a chocolate banana beer. There's potential there.
