What's up BA? I recently bought a 2L flask for making starters, and the thing came with a vacuum-sealed pack of yeast nutrient. I was wondering how I should store it once opened, as well as the shelf life of the stuff? There is no sticker or any type of labeling on the packet (I only know it is yeast nutrient because it was identified on the packing slip). I know if it was yeast, I would just throw the stuff into the trash, no questions asked. But considering it's yeast nutrient, do I need to worry? I have never used the stuff before, so I really don't know much about it.

I have bulk yeast nutrient in a "ziplock" bag from the LHBS. There is no special storage requirements as far as I'm aware.

Like @JohnSnowNW said, a ziplock should work . But what brand is the yeast nutrient? I'd be hesitant to use it if I did't know what it was.

Treat it as you would any other precious powder and you will be fine.

No special treatment required. If the packet is about the size of a yeast packet, it sounds like it might be enough for one starter?

Thanks for the replies. @VikeMan, I don't know what brand it is, I just know it came from HomeBrewStuff (I ordered off Amazon).
