I will be brewing an imperial ipa this weekend with an expected OG of 1.096. Mr. Malty is telling me to make a 1.56 liter yeast starter with 2 packets of liquid yeast. Can I just make a larger starter and use one packet, or should I stick to the instructions?

Use the slider at the bottom, move it to the right. It says use larger starters fewer packs. There you go.

Don't know how I missed that. Thanks!

Keep in mind that this changes the starter's innoculation rate (which Mr. Malty doesn't explicitly show you, but YeastCalc does), so it will take longer for your starter to finish. I reckon you're looking at something close to a gallon of starter this way.
