Hello all, I've been getting the itch to try Assassin. I realize the new batch should be out in the next few weeks/months and I will TRY to get one of those as well. For last year's batch do you think any of this will land one and if so, what combo? JK Nocturn b2 JK Encendia JK Hibernal ANTEAD Coffee HF Everett (non BA) Thx for the help!
I traded my last one several months ago for CW-Black Gold and a 2013 BCBCS and KBS. I hope this helps
I think that if anything, it'd be harder to get a bottle of the new batch just because of the Pappy hype.
I would agree Stevedore. I got a case last year and probably won't get any this year because of it going to distribution.
I just got last years Assassin straight up 1:1 for Double Barrel Hunahpu. This was in the past month.... Hope that helps...
I wouldn't say nearly zero (PVW Black Magick being a major exception in my opinion), but otherwise I'd have to agree that the effects of using Pappy barrels vs non-Pappy barrels certainly does not justify the additional trading hype. Another case in point, BA People's Porter used Pappy barrels, and it was not a great beer by any measure. GIGO, right? But that would ignore the time-tested laws of marketing (which TG isn't completely ignorant of- Kentucky Brunch Gold Label!), so I'll shut up now.
it sure as heck should I too traded a DBH for Assassion yellow-wax, 1:1. I traded an ANTEAD set to get Hommage (he added Nib Smuggler)
Thanks for the info man. Have an extra Hommage, and just trying to figure out if I'd be way off if I put that out there.
I think it would be generous on your part, but should get it done. One thing that's probably against you is that of the original 1,200 or so Assassins that were bottled, there are probably fewer than 400 of them left, so there's that.
Thanks. I figured there would be few left out there, but it is a big want! There are a few others things I'd like to try, so I'll roll the dice and see what happens.
I think it does have some effect (but you are also paying for hype as well, in most cases) but the Buffalo Trace version and the Pappy version were both great beers, but both had different flavors from the two different barrels.
You are wrong. At least about the Black Magick's you may not be able to tell its a Pappy beer but you would 100 percent think its a much better beer in a blind taste test.
While I generally agree with your thought, I believe in this case you would be wrong. The Pappy BM was much better than the other 2.
