http://newschoolbeer.com/2015/02/alameda-brewing-launches-beer-cans-canned-beer-fest-march.html Assuming they'll be dating the cans, this has me interested. Not sure why Plaid Pantry was specified as getting them first, though. Haven't seen one of those in a loooong time, maybe they're a craft powerhouse now?
Thought this was interesting too. I can't think of many other DIPAs in Oregon that are put into cans or smaller packaging which is a bit surprising considering these are very prevelant on the other coast. Can anyone think of another Oregon brewery that puts their Imperial IPAs into 12 to 16 oz packaging?
That fits the initial criteria, but i was thinking more along the lines of multiple packaged bottles or cans. Something that comes in a 4 or 6 pack.
I can't think of any others. Just cross the river into Vancouver and get some Sister and Brother cans, then. :-)
The roll out started with Plaid because they were the first chain to offer them placement, and their orders are so big that Alameda wanted to make sure they could keep up before expanding to Freddies, QFC, etc. Also, the cans came in Tuesday.
I think in general we seem to have disproportionally less breweries that package at all/only small run bombers or 750s. I think Oregon and the PNW in general seems to lean more towards pub culture. I think thats why growlers took off so much. Maybe I'm crazy though. On Alameda: It's cool that they're doing this but honestly outside of Black Bear stout (and even thats rarely) I tend to stay away from their main lineup. Though I wouldn't drink much Alameda anyways if it wasn't for $5 growler fill Saturdays.
