I did a search (since us in that Pacific section of the forums are strict about it) and sadly the threads I found were a bit dated or spoke of various events that have since passed. So myself and the better-half will be attending the GABF (finally, can cross off my bucket list) and have tickets for friday session and sounds like we are being given tickets to thursday as well. We will be in town through sunday/monday (whenever it is cheaper to fly out) so I need some helpful hints for saturday and maybe half a day sunday to waste away the hours. I will not have a car and be staying near'ish the convention center. This is all dependant on how hectic it would be to get a shuttle or something from the airport. If painful I may just rent a car but the likelihood of driving in a new city, especially after a few beers, is slim to nil. My main stop right now will be Crooked Stave and basically mule back whatever bottles they have there to take away. Any other local places that are recommended both for beer and food would be fantastic and appreciated. Thanks.
Fantastic, thanks. My searchfu apparently is not strong enough. Also your forumname might be the best name in existence.
Yah, taxi/bus from the airport if you're staying downtown. Parking sucks down there. There's really no need to venture outside of downtown during GABF week. Of course, you could, but a lot will happen down there for GABF week. His real name is even better
Make sure you make your way down to Vine St. and say hi. Or just stop by the Mountain Sun booth at GABF, I'll be there most of the time. I would take the bus from DIA to Union Station. From there, you can take the free 16th street mall ride, which will get you within two blocks of the convention center. The DIA to Union Station ride costs 11 bucks each way per person. I'm sure there are a few breweries that are conveniently located along the light rail lines as well. And there are a billion B Cycle stations around downtown if you want to rent a bike to get out a little more (that would be perfect to get you up to places like Crooked Stave, Prost, Epic, ext.
Should have added this, any chance we can make a stickies thread at the top of Mountain Forum for us Denver/Colorado people to post advice related to these types of questions? Might make it easier...
The times I've done GABF I've taken the shuttle with no issues. Always crowded, but where they said they'd be on time. I would make reservations in advance. And comments about not needing a car are spot on. There are so many spots open now you almost don't even need to go to GABF itself to hit great beer & event.
