1 year old micromatic fridge conversion.

    I had 4 - 1/4bbl stubby kegs so far.

Just put in my first 1/2bbl.

Now I get foamy first beers consistently.

I've had pressure from 6-14, no difference other than higher produced even more foam.

I suspect that the added height of the keg, and the line, means that the top 1/2 of my set-up is too warm. I am doing the cup of water thing now to see what the temps are, but if my suspicions are correct -

What can I do? I have no problem just going back to 1/4bbls after this, but I still have a bunch of beer to get through.

Can I make a little styrofoam box to contain the lower part of the fridge? Will turning the fridge down even more (its on 4 out of 5, but 5 tends to freeze stuff) help or will it just make the bottom colder?

    Thanks everyone.

fiddling with your pressure is not helping anything..What 6psi is most def to low..14psi could be to high , but with out knowing what beer your pouring and what temps your pouring at you can't dial in anything..

The beer is Widmer Columbia Common. Its actually the first beer I ever had on the kegerator, only we got a 1/4bbl the first time.

I'll test all the temps asap.

test the temps your beers are pouring at (2nd beer immediately poured after first in same glass) , not inside the unit temps.
also while your at it contact them for the v/v of the beer
