Surly Furious seems like a perfect choice for this get-together.

I don't know- a lot of these suggestions might be too out there for the 'lightly hopped' crowd, as excellent as they may be. I'd say go for Troegs Perpetual, if it's available by you.

Well, if you read the OP that is pretty much what is being looked for here, an avg. IPA to please all, so I guess we can take your snobby post as a vote in favor of Torpedo:wink:

Unless you are having both an IPA and an APA, I'd bag the idea of serving an IPA and go with something like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. It is widely available and reasonably priced. It has enough hops that the hopheads will at least get some of what they want and not so much in the way of hop bitterness that those who like a "lightly hopped berr" should be ok with it. But if you've got both an IPA and APA on your list, then for the IPA I'd go for something like Bell's Two Hearted or Founder's Centennial for the IPA.

Since you can't easily get Columbus IPA I'll throw in votes for Two Hearted and Racer 5

    HopDevil.

Alternatives would be Troegs Perpetual, Torpedo, Union Jack, or Two Hearted, all already covered

If budget is a consideration, but location is not, I'll go with Bridgeport IPA.

Zombie Dust (if you allow quasi-IPA's). Citra is an easy hop to handle.

Didn't they just release the mini-kegs of Two Hearted?

    Coincidence? I think not.

Another vote for Torpedo: When fresh it's plenty hoppy, yet is sweet enough to balance it out for people who like that sort of thing (for the record, I do, too.) Of course I know someone whom habitually drinks SN Pale Ale, and doesn't care for Torpedo (WTF) and pretty much ONLY drinks IPAs from other breweries.
