Most threads reference Portsmouth, NH, Portland/Kittery, ME when mentioning staying in York. However, I'm only staying in York for a day, and can probably swing lunch and maybe drinks later at night. Any suggestions for bars in York specifically? Or great food spots? Thanks in advance!
York River Landing on Route 1. They have the widest craft beer selection in the area by far. I've heard the restaurant is decent but overpriced for tourists - you won't be running into any locals there. https://www.taplister.com/bars/the-york-river-landing/5491adff498ef1f5d216b24b/ SoMe is an up-and-coming brewery in town and makes some decent selections, but to be honest you'll find better beer at Tributary in Kittery. It's less than 10 minutes from York to Tributary and you'll be glad you went. I'd strongly recommend Black Birch (comfort food and great beers) or Tulsi (amazing Indian food) in Kittery over anything in York.
Thanks! Heading up Sunday, so Tributary might be tough as they open at 1, I have a wedding at 5 pm. And unfortunately Black Birch isn't open on Sundays. Good thing I have some growlers from Hill Farmstead!
Coming up from MA, get off 95 at exit 2 and go straight through the Kittery traffic circle on Route 236 - Tributary is a mile down the road on the left, next to the post office (if you get to Ace Hardware you went too far). I would be shocked if it took you more than 5 minutes to grab a growler or two to go - they usually have some filled in the fridge so there's no wait unless you want something from the bar. They don't have food Head back to the Kittery circle and take the first right onto Route 1 North. Drive past the outlets and after a mile you will come to York River Landing on the left, right before you cross the York River.
While 7-11 is surprisingly good (and has the widest selection of Evil Twin brews I have ever seen), I'd urge you to proceed a mile down Route 1 south to Carl's Meat Market which has over 200 craft beers in stock. It may not be the most rare stuff, but there is always something interesting and it turns over FAST - they usually have Maine Beer Co. bottles that were made that week.
Last summer, my wife and I went to Cornerstone in Ogunquit. Great pizza and nice tap/bottle list for the area.
