Hawes is a great night out as well. A few quality old fashioned pubs all with great ales - and a nice creamery selling lots of great cheeses. If I was coming to the UK and wanted to do some walking in the hills and some good food and ales after - you could do worse.

I can occasionally find an individual pint bottle, but it is normally well past its prime. I recall years ago when I could find 6-packs reasonably fresh; those days are long gone.

About that time it became unavailable here in MA. A brewer, I can’t remember where, told me it was one of his favorite beers. (The brewer might have been Dan Paquette of Pretty Things, but I just don’t remember with certainty.) After hearing him talk about it, I sought it out with no luck. I reached out to Redstone, a great beer & liquor shop, and the gentleman on the phone told me that it was no longer distributed in MA. He was quite knowledgeable and even provided some background about the matter, but I just don’t remember the details.

The downside of the American Beer Revolution is that foreign beers (which not too long ago had run of the land) are being crowded off the shelves by 'locals'. In many cases these are also great beers

We stumbled across the White Bear in Masham which is owned by the Theakstones Brewery, the have Old Peculair etc on draft but they also had a Theakstones IPA on draft, it was superb, can't find it anywhere else and can't buy it in the shops etc.
The first thing on my list when lockdown was over was to go there and have a pint of it, walked in and was ushered over to the safe zone whilst eyeing up the pumps out of the corner of my eye.
Yup you guessed it, they didn't have it on!! 40 minute drive

The place I play golf at has just started selling Riggwelter in bottles, was so happy when I saw it in the fridge I nearly forgot how much I hate golf for a millisecond

This is available in bottles from UK supermarkets, not sure they delivery to NY? Would it be an option for me to post some to you from the UK?

Thanks, but no need. There's too much beer over here as it is even if I miss some imports quite a bit. :beers:

My perfect Yorkshire pub is The Cutlers Arms in Rotherham, choice of ale would be New York Pale or possibly Black Diamond Stout. Reading material would certainly be the Daily Star or maybe Viz magazine.

Agreed. Spent time there on our honeymoon. Loved everything about cask ales.

How about a pint of Blacksheep best bitter at the Fox and Rabbit after a day on the moors.
