I really do appreciate this. Just a few days ago I picked up a 6-pack of a beer from Tallgrass (now closed): Velvet Rooster. Now I know I can rate it, along with their amazing Big RICC--a beer I wanted to rate and couldn't. Now I know I can!

This is great. I recently moved house, then moved country, etc, so much has been happening I've been traveling all over the place and slugging new beers and just haven't had time to recall where I even wrote my tasting notes down. It's disappointing to later find a batch of holiday reviews and realise some of them can't post. Thanks for changing the policy.

This is a great idea. It's a perfect place for the old "Pete's Wicked" stuff.

I should also note that it would not be the 1st time that a brewery brings back a discontinued brew.

Good since the retired beer from 2017 was resuscitated in 2018.

What was the original reasoning for not allowing ratings? I figured people would still be able to acquire cans or bottles even if they were out of production.

It had to do with the way we treated retired beers back in the day, as well as our views on rating old beer. It just stuck after a while and was never given a proper revisit until now.

Hey I got one for you: You can't add a beer from a closed brewery. Maybe its intentional. Case in point: Only Butte Creek (now closed) has its 10th and 11th Organic Revolution IPAs on the list. I went to review/add Butte Creek Organic Revolution II Imperial IPA and notice you can't add it (or the other ~9 versions 1, 3-9 etc. . . ) to the brewery.

Normally wouldn't add something so old, but I got meticulous notes/scorecard from the 8th annual Double IPA festival (held February 9, 2008) I'm adding as I clean out drawers in my office.

Now I can rate all those Valiant Brews from yesteryear
