Every time I hear "drain pour" it seems totally ridiculous. "Huh huh had to drain pour a Woot Stout because it was too sweet."

I've poured out one beer ever. Unita Dubhe black IPA because it was filled with so much sediment.

I highly doubt that an uninfected beer can be so vile that you just pour it out. Give it to someone else. Suffer through it. Sure it's your beer and money to blow but don't be such a freaking puss

The only thing I have ever drain poured that wasn't infected was Ghost Face Killah. Worst beer I have ever had in my entire life.

Yes, I have drain poured a couple. Why drink something I don't like?

If I find a flavor in the beer that utterly makes me Cringe...I will pour it out.

Back in my college days I drain-poured the ass end of many a 40oz. Couldn't pay me enough to drink the last 6 ounces of St. Ides if I couldn't get it down the hatch before it hit room temperature. I could get two of 'em for about $4.50 anywhere in Boston... and I did quite often. I look back at those days and want to barf.

I mean I'm not going to drain pour something because it's only "ok". And it does have to be pretty bad to qualify - I have a pretty high tolerance for iffy beer. But it can happen (I'd guess I've done maybe 10 drain pours ever). I'm not going to "suffer" through it. If drinking a beer is an act of suffering it's not much of a hobby.

Edit and I'll admit one was the last few ounces of a Sucaba :grimacing:

Two, Voodoo Doughnut Abomination (syrup and burned tires) and Swill by Ten Barrels (sickeningly sweet soda pop) Edit, and one more, it was a HOTD Adam that was completely flat. (Yes, I need bubbles in my beer thank you very much)

I rarely ever drain pour, but when I do usually at least half the beer is gone and I'd rather move on to something I might like. Suffering through a beer is silly.

Depends I have poured out beer with a metallic infection it was both times ten fiddy from different 4 packs(not an infection I can fight through). The last beer I had people pour out that wasn't infected while we drank was from Mraz brewing it was pretty bad and has a Avg. score of 3.5 /10 on ratebeer but since then they have got 100X better.

Why suffer through a beer you don't like? Life's too short.

Sure, I can (or should) only drink but so much and if it is really disagreeing with me I will pour it out. I think several years ago I would power through it out of "principal" but now I do not hesitate, if I really dislike it.

Sometimes I'll drain pour a beer I don't like, simply because I'd rather not consume 250 calories of something I'm not enjoying. This is nearly always shelf beer. 2 dollars max

My neighbor, god bless him, often brings be beer from his upstate NY trips. And believe you me, there is plenty of undrinkable beer being made and sold out there. PLEN-TEE

Last drain pour? Stone's Smoked Porter. But it didn't cost an arm and a leg so I felt good about pouring that sucker down the drain....ew. Just not a fan of that style.
I would hope this would never happen but if I spent a lot of $$ on a beer that I felt was that bad, I still might try to gag my way through it if anything because I was so pissed off at dropping the cash on it and want to feel justified somehow, someway at that point....JUST BECAUSE. :-)

I have poured out a few - but only after trying. One was my fault, an SN Hop Harvest bought well after the 100 day mark and yeah, it was not tasty but I still drank about 1/2 a glass. The others were all things a friend bought and left at my house -they had been sitting on a shelf for 6+ months. Some were fine, some were just awful. So yeah, it happens but not often.

I used to feel the same way, and only VERY rarely will I ever pour a beer out, but why should I drink something that I absolutely hate? I can't remember the last time I drain poured something, but I assure you it was a better option than me drinking it. I'm not going to drink something that I hate to not be a ***** or man up. I'm actually not even sure how that would make me a *****.

I'm pretty much in this exact camp (minus DP'ing Sucaba, WTF?). I have a feeling OP was referring to those who claim to constantly be drain pouring every beer that isn't up to their exacting standards, which I think a lot of people do just to sound cool. In which case I agree with him. Don't be such a sally.
