PtY is at Twist tomorrow (Friday, Feb 22nd) and I'm pissed. I planned to go this year but they're not usually this early and I prefer to drink with the hobos this weekend. Have fun y'all, maybe next year.
Saw this the other day, don't think anyone is scheduled specifically for a weekend tapping. https://www.newschoolbeer.com/2019/...ovdPVovfSePrIPVkkTbUxSHHlm2-AtNHA1s_tpQw-rgLs Using PTY to get people to come on less busy days I guess.
Yeah, that's a pretty typical ploy, and I guess it makes sense. While I understand it, I find it annoying, as typically I don't do a whole lot of beer drinking (outside the home at least) during the week. That being said, I'm also surprised that Twist is pouring their younger so early in the cycle. Did they announce their tapping via instagram? (I didn't see any mention of this on their website or Facebook page). One thing I would mention... If you can come down next weekend Larry (@NWer), I think there's a good chance their keg of younger may still be pouring. According to New School, a lot of places got a half keg this year instead of a sixtel (as RR made almost double their normal batch this year), and if memory serves, last year the keg at Twist lasted for more than a week.
Yup, this Friday as posted on their Facebook page. They always hint cryptic references to something younger when announcing . I realize it is prolific around PDX now but was looking forward to a trip to the coast in March. First B'Ham but for now won't think farther ahead than that.
Remember when Russian River pulled out of Washington six years ago? I should head into Oregon one of these years and drink some. I would love to have it again.
Yep. My buddy was at Super Deli Mart and overheard the owner talking about RR leaving the state so of course I ran here and had to post about it. At least I had Younger once in Seattle. Good times.
I asked Natalie about possible expansion when I was down in N. Cal. I got the impression it's possible (they're looking into it is my understanding), but for now, they just want to make sure they can satisfy existing accounts (which I gather continues to be a problem). She mentioned that they were sending kegs of Younger to new accounts in Central California for the first time, so clearly there is SOME interest in expanding distribution, but otherwise it sounds like for now they're sticking with the status quo. That being said, the new production facility over in Windsor is truly huge!
IIRC, their publicly stated reason for the pullout was their dissatisfaction with some of WAs laws. I don't think those laws have changed.
While possibly valid, that makes for a more convenient reason than being unable to meet the demands of your Northern CA accounts.
I'd see them sending bottles of PtE to Oregon again before they reentered WA. I like Elder and Blind Big, but honestly I still miss Temptation.
