Agreed! There was a great crowd there, and plenty of good beer going around. Thanks again to you and BucketBoy for the chance to try some really special stuff!

Very well run event by Capone's. IrishColonial and I had a blast. Was a little skeptical when Capone's decided to allow two lines to form: one at the front and one at the back. Already about 40 people in line when they started line two. Stated both lines would get tickets simultaneously, which could have potentially screwed the people at the back of line one. But no matter. I'm pretty sure Capone's adjusted the pour size down to 4 oz. to accommodate what must have been about 150 people in line. And, from the looks of it, just about everyone got a pour. Great decision on their part and a great event.

Killer tap list. Troegs Mango, Weyerbacher Uniform, and Victory Ranch were all standouts. Bravo.

About $7 for a 10 oz pour is what I paid at two locations this year.

I want to say the price was $6 for a 12 ounce pour at the brewpub this year, but to be perfectly honesy, I really wasn't paying close attention.

It was most def a great time! Thanks so much again for sharing some amazing beers. This was just another one of the many outstanding events @ Capones.

I actually thought it was reasonable, as did the dudes I was in line with, but only because we had heard of $10-15 pours elsewhere. Mabe that's not the case.

I got the impression that they did some last minute shrinking of the pour size to accommodate the glut of people. Like I said, there were about 150 people in line when they opened and it looked like everyone got a ticket. They didnt have much choice after they told us at about 9am they were doing two lines, one at front door and one at side. At that point, there were 50 people or so in the original line and people just start pulling up at 9am and getting in line behind the one guy in line 2. Didnt make much sense to me to split the lines when the first had existed since the early AM.

In the end, tho, everyone got a good pour. Much rather do that than only have 60 people get 10 oz pours and leave 90 people disappointed.

I actually knew they were doing two lines when I arrived. However, I got there so early that rather than sit at the side door my by myself, I headed up front so I could bullshit with people. Two lines is ideal in that place. Gets you in the door faster, and allowed both the front and the back of the place to be seated quickly without people climbing over one another.

Mick, in talking to Jeff, it was probably closer to a 11 ounce pour. The snifter glass was 12 ounces, so account for a slight head and it is much closer to 11 ounces I would think (and so did he).

Just to throw a little clarification in there.

4 ounce pour? I'd have to think about that. Is it even worth drinking it then? If I'm going to an event like that, I would want a pour larger than that fully understanding if I'm not there early enough, I may be shut out entirely. I understand the rarity and all and I understand trying to get as many people as possible trying it, but at what point is a serving that small not enough? I think a 10 ounce pour is the perfect amount to keep as many people happy as possible, but also keeping those that were there early (and deserve the reward) happy too.

this happens at every crazy event that capones has. people form 2 lines, because they can. once you learn about this, though, you realize you don't have to get there so bloody early anymore =)

I guess I didn't care the pour was small because I've had Younger like, 3 times already in the last week or so. I also didn't care because there were so many other beers on the taplist that were just fantastic, including many I hadn't had before. I was way more interested in Scratch 58. Besides, regardless of what was on tap, the best part was the people I got to hang out with and the copious amount of fabulous beer everyone shared. Standing in line bullshitting and throwin' a few back is just part of the experience. It was a very fun day start to finish for me.

Based on some of the other "rare beer" events I've attended at Capone's over the past year, I was pretty much expecting something along these lines (very small pours). Customers received similar sized portions at several of the Hill Farmstead events I went to. In terms of allowing the maximum amount of people to try a beer, it's a great idea (and I don't really begrudge Matt making a few extra bucks as well). On the other hand, a 4 ounce pour is barely enough to enjoy, and is one more reason why I would have to think twice before attending an event like this. However, I say that as someone who has had younger on a number of occasions and so have no burning desire to stand in line hours on end for a 4 ounce pour. However, if I had never had the beer before and really, really, really wanted to try it, maybe I would feel differently.

Its not the case as you can see by the prices listed from Theresa..TJs.. Pinocchios and some others..its actually ridiculous and if on the fly they needed to change pour sizes to accommodate everyone that's fine...then adjust the price accordingly?...thats my poiint....Everywhere is basically charging .65-70 cents an once..Capones..$1.75oz

I mean its common sense and common courtesy..I'm not surprised though..

I was kind of pissed at Capone's that the first people in line got these tiny snifters full of about 4ozs and after about 30 of them they switched to this tiny pint glass holding a good 2 more ounces. It may sound silly but I'm not going to wait again for this beer so I feel short changed when my friends and I were about 10th in line getting there at 8:00.

It's PtY, and if you get there late and there isn't any left you cannot bitch one bit. I wonder if 300 people showed up would there have been 2 ounce pours?
