Anyone else going to the tapping at the Resurrection Ale House on Tuesday? I was one of the first 50 on the mailing list to respond, so I plan to hit that in lieu of Monk's. Did anyone get word on the size and price of pours?

If you weren't there by 4:50 (tapped right at 4) to order, then you would have missed it. The keg kicked in 55 minutes. Terry and I had a bet on over/under and hour. Under won.

Sorry you missed it then. Very nice crowd, very nice beer. Good luck tracking it down elsewhere. No way I'm dealing with the Capones crowd on Saturday, but I will admit Matt put together a stellar tap list, kudos to him.

Actually, I'm not sure that makes any difference. Not filling growlers any more simply means that RR doesn't blow through their entire supply of younger on the first day. Now they spread out the distribution at the brewpub over a two week period. However, I think they know in advance how much is earmarked for accounts in Oregon, California, Washington, Colorado and SEPA; I don't think how much they sell at the brewpub has any impact on how much is sent out to their out of state accounts.

I love the post deletion on this site...bottom line, unlike let's say Capone's, Grey Lodge sold more PTY tickets than pours, and suckered people into coming in on a random night. I will never go there again due to this business practice. What is wrong with speaking the truth?

here's a challenge for you. grab a sixtel of beer. take a guess at how many glasses poured you will be able to get out of the keg. start pouring. and make sure you are pouring quickly to keep up with the increasingly impatient line of people in front of you. you are required to hit that guessed number exactly. and if you don't, i'll call you out on it and your shitty approximation practices.

I'm not saying that they wouldn't do this, but in this day and age with BA and Twitter, businesses that rely on their reputation are unlikely to skin a cat when they can shear it over and over again.

While I agree with you Lauren, I don't think that's really the point. I personally don't agree with bluetieman's feelings or opinion about Greylodge's practices, but he's still entitled to his opinion. Then people like you and I can tell him why we think he is wrong or why we disagree with his point of view. IMHO, that's how these forums should work, and like bluetieman, I dislike seeing the moderators deleting a post, just because it's negative. Attacking someone in a post, foul language, drunken tirades.... I can understand why the moderators would delete posts like that. However, bluetieman expressed his opinion and gave his reasons for that opinion. Why that's a problem is something I do not understand.

That being said, as has been pointed out before, it's their (Jason and Todd's) website, and they can do whatever they like. I think we tacitly accept that fact when we participate on the BA forums. I may not always like it, but I realize that's how things work on BA.

Oh course Vince stole it. He's been leaving all of his glassware across SEPA and I think he finally ran out.

i was responding more to his accusations that grey lodge was doing something shady, etc.
i have no idea what happened with the post deletion --- but definitely not a fan of that.

If I recall correctly, he was also unhappy with the behavior of the bartenders, who he indicated were helping themselves to younger and apparenly giving some of their friends ordering priority as well. I wasn't there, and of course it's anyone's guess what really took place, but based on his version of what happened, I could see why he was pissed. That being said, my take was the same as yours... guessing how many pours will come out of a sixtel is a pretty inexact science, so I would almost expect that there's the potential of losing out, despite having a ticket. I can see being disappointed, but bluetieman was pretty angry about the whole thing...

Regardless, I completely understand why he was angry that his post was deleted. I think he also mentioned that he had no intention of ever going to Greylodge again, but there was really nothing nasty about his post. Given that his previous post was deleted, I'm almost surprsed that his more current post wasn't deleted as well (maybe the moderators just haven't gotten around to it yet).

Minor clarification here on "sold more PtY tickets than pours" as I was there that night. They didn't SELL tickets beforehand from what I saw. Tickets were given out to people there at 7, then people were getting their PtY about an hour later, and then people were charged for them. I didn't see anyone giving cash/credit for a ticket and I didn't see anyone asking for a refund for not getting a pour so it's not like if you had a ticket and didn't get a pour you lost money. Now if I had pre-paid for a ticket and/or reserved a ticket days in advance (if it was done that way) and didn't get a pour then yeah I'd be really pissed. It sucks that you didn't get one and I hear ya there but I didn't see a mob of angry ticket holders that night who were left empty-handed. I thought things went pretty well with the crowd considering the horror stories I've heard from other places (price gouging, tiny pours, people getting seconds before others present getting firsts, etc). The good news though is that if you're in/near the city there's a lot of chances close by and hopefully things go better for ya.

Ok, maybe I should have been clearer, no beer was sold before hand, but, I was there at 7 with the intention of eating until 8 if I got a ticket and paying for/getting a pour - that did not happen, and I got suckered into coming in. How can Capone's more of less get it right, but not these dudes. With as much as this stuff costs these days ($90 for the Memphis Taproom dinner for example), there is just no room for me to waste my money or more importantly my time. Had I not gotten a ticket or had a known that the tickets means nothing more than an entrance fee into the Hunger Games, I would have walked out. I took comfort in the fact that a ticketed event means something, and have had plenty of PTY in my years in the Bay Area to know when to just drop it if I fail. Hence, my praise for MT and their affiliate establishments for running this right.
