Newcastle upon Tyne is in northern England, not Scotland, and Newcastle Brown Ale is no longer brewed there, but in the Heineken-owned John Smith brewery in Tadcaster, Yorkshire.

I traded struise bottles for some BCBS and KBS as my first trade. Completely blown away.

It was Molson on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. I was ecstatic because I was only 19 and getting served a beer with my dinner.

Probably Sixpoint Resin, but in the same night I drank a Brewdog Punk Ipa and a Birra Moretti. Not sure which was the first one.

I'm not sure, might have been Fosters or Carlsberg, but it was when I was in England 4-5 years ago. This is going to bug me I will have to consult with my father and see what imports he used to drink.

No idea but I bet it was either st Pauli gril dark, or becks dark, had to be dark as it was the only color I would drink for years.....in lagers.

i'm pretty sure it was Bass...maybe 93, but could have been Moosehead. Bass was the one that stuck with me through my high school years though. Bass and "bar bottles" of bud. Miss those old hard cases...

Lowenbrau from the era when they were brewing it in Canada. I remember it being skunky (no shocker coming from a Winn Dixie in rural Alabama) and freakishly bitter compared to the BMC lagers I'd had up to that point. I actually hated the stuff.

I think the first import I had that I enjoyed was either a Heineken Dark or a Dos XX Amber.

(EDIT: That Lowenbrau was from the early 90's so maybe it wasn't Canadian. In that case, it was a Foster's...which wasn't much different from the normal US lagers).

Drank a few Beck's and DAB in high school after my older sister came back from Germany. I liked the dark right from the start.

...which (in the US market, at least) was a Canadian beer at the time.

I think my first was San Miguel (from the Phillipines, in case someone doesn't know), followed hard upon by my first Guinness, which I was much more impressed by at the time (it was my 21st birthday - my underage drinking wasn't done all that often and never involved imports).
