Stop trading for East Coast IPAs and enjoy the greatness in California.

I think highway 1 would be better for coastal views!!

I want to log every single beer I drink in an Excel chart. This is to get a better estimate on how many unique beers I try in a year (I've been curious ever since I started this thread: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/the-big-year.354873/), to see what beer I drink the most of by volume (I'm guessing All Day IPA), and to see what volume I drink in general. The last one comes from looking at a 15-20bbl fermenter and wondering "How much beer is that really? Have I drank that much beer in my life, or do I drink that amount in a few months?" I'm sure I'll come up with some more fun data to analyze. :sunglasses:

And also to not get carried away with this...

I want to get familiar with all (I hear there are less than 5) the craft brewers that are here in EP, TX. I also want to get familiar with the few craft brewers in Prescott, AZ, where my folks live. I'm very curious to know what the local brewers here in EP and there in Prescott are producing.

I REALLY need to reverse my present buy/consume ratio (presently about 7:1). Not quite certain how I'm gonna accomplish this? Difficult for me to consume more, don't really want to either, as I drink to savor the product that somebody crafted. If I must slow down my buying, than I must!

    CHEERS!

Sammy I am looking to hit 1000 this year. There is no altruism in my goal but it is important. Also to try more beer form more countries, to tick more macros AND to convince the bottle shop to offer those in singles too. To learn more about the brewing process so as to be able to describe the aspects of the brewing process that correspond to differences in the appearance category as well as the others. AND finally to spend many midnights cruising the internet looking for songs I did not play in WBAYDN yet.

Reduce inventory in my man cave (sitting at about 10 cases right now), come up with a homebrew session IPA recipe.

    Expand my glassware colection.

    Learn how to home brew.

Educate myself more on tasting notes. At this point when I drink a beer, my response is pretty much, "I like this because it tastes good" or "I don't like this because it tastes bad". Well, maybe not THAT basic, but I'm gonna try and pay more attention to the subtleties.

This is what I wrote in a thread titled "New Year Beer Resolutions for 2015" exactly 367 days ago...

I am going to better adhere to the principles of "Don't spend the douchebag dollar", i.e., don't give your money to people who...

    price gouge,
    short pour,
    deal cheater pints,
intentionally or by lack of effort misrepresent what is what,
don't clean their lines well or often,
don't know how to keep cask beer or keep it far too long,
    don't store their beer well,
don't pull a beer off when it's 'off' and instead push through it one rotten pint at a time at my and your expense,
don't make good when they need to make good,
don't know/care how to clean their glassware,
    aren't good beer people,
    aren't good to beer people,
and any of the other dozen bad bar behaviors that offend me. There are far too many good places to support, with good beer, served by good beer people with good beer behaviors. Say it with your dollar.

Some of you need to do a lot better or leave. You know who you are, NYC.

...I will be less shy and less polite about this above in 2016.

Further, my other 2015 goal was to knock down a 1000th place review (got it in under the gun with just a few days to spare). The whole lot of 'em only took 13 years to scribe, and I honestly don't know where to go from here. I am at 40 states and the District of Columbia for place reviews, though. Am thinking it's time to start travelling to places I ain't ever been and knocking down those other 10 states, maybe?

    1. Go on a New England trip with my wife and hit the big ones in ME/VT/MA.
    2. Knock out as many of the remaining Top 100 beers from Maryland as I can.
    3. Visit at least 20 more different Maryland breweries.
    4. Have a 4 year vertical BCBS tasting at the end of the year.
    5. Visit DC Brau.
    6. Hit 2,000 ratings.
    7. Knock out the 14 styles I have yet to try.

Yes I did. A couple 2x4s, some plywood and a few bolts. These babies can hold a shit load of beer.

Rate my 1000th beer (this will happen early in the year).
    Hit 1000 postings.
    Reach 10,000 likes.
    Should hit Poobah this year.
I think I will mix in some favorites instead of only ticking.
Looking forward to trips to New Orleans, Philly, Palm Beach and Kansas City this year and wondering what I will grab on those trips this year.
Also hoping to continue occasional online orders.

Expand my knowledge and experience with a wider range of styles - get a better handle on sours/wild ales as well as some more of the classic Belgian/German styles. My beer fridge and extended storage is mostly stouts/porters/barleywines so expanding the range for me is key

To American Wild Ales, at 84 ratings, be my number one style rated (100 for IPA and 88 for Double IPA).

I would love a repeat of 2015. I will add that the cellar has too many IPA's for a guy who plans to get some weight off. So, I need to finish them before they go too far downhill

Hilariously, all of my beer-related goals have something to do with BA.

I'd love to hit 'Poobah' by February (will not happen, but going from 'Initiate' to 'Poobah' in one year would be kinda cool)
I'd love to at least attempt another beer trade (as it was far more enjoyable & far less confusing than I thought it would be)
    I'd love to meet more BA's for in-person tastings/hangouts (I'm lookin' at you VA WBAYDN-ers  )
I'd love to become more active on this site than I already am (although every time I try, I just wind up spending hours on WBAYDN :stuck_out_tongue: )

    I'd love to make MST3K nights a semi-regular thing, with the help of @TongoRad & @Ozzylizard , of course!

    1. Finally have a CT beer so I can tick my last state.
    2. Switch from extract/concentrate to grain home brewing.
    3. Finally get to Karbach brewing (I hate driving around the Houston area)!
    4. Find some more international brews to try, outside the EU.
